Among the major cognac houses, Rémy Martin is a specialist in this type of production, while other houses such as Braastad, De Luze, Hine and Tiffon all produce and sell Fine Champagne cognacs. Other sub-regions include Bordeires, Fins Bois, Bois Ordinaires within the Cognac region for Brandy. Created in 1927, Rémy Martin VSOP is the first ever VSOP Cognac Fine Champagne blend (using only the finest grapes), and the first to be enshrined in the iconic frosted bottle. One of the "big four" Cognac houses, Rémy Martin is best known for producing some of the world's best Fine Champagne Cognac (a blend of Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne spirit - the two premier appellations in the Cognac region). To produce their Cognac, Rémy Martin uses an exclusive blend of grapes made up of 97% Ugni Blanc and Colombard, with the remainder being the spicy, robust Folle Blanche grape.

These rules are laid out by the drink’s ruling body, the Comite Interprofessional du Vin de Champagne, or CIVC.
