Last week’s feature had us enjoying a lazy Sunday brunch and this week has us cooking up lunch with the help of Sombra and Doomfist. Doomfist’s Punch Drunk Punch is a delightful, fruity concoction made up of fresh fruit, orange and lemon-lime sodas, bitters, and grenadine for color. If you want to really get a punch out of it you can optionally add gin or tequila. Monroe-Cassel is hands-down my favorite cook, and after the WoW and Hearthstone cookbook I had a dream of getting an Overwatch one from her. And here it is! The quality is the usual: she just pours her heart and soul into the lore and food research and it shows how much care this book was made with.

To accompany our molletes, I called upon another Talon member, Doomfist, to provide us with what else: Punch! Yep. I read a cookbook. Cover to cover. Repeatedly. No I do not cook. Also, I do not play Overwatch, nor do I have any intention to start playing Overwatch. Based on the setting of Blizzard’s team-based shooter, Overwatch: The Official Cookbook (hereafter referred to as O:TOK) tries to translate the cosmopolitan flavor of the game’s science fiction setting into a diverse selection of dishes, deserts and drinks.

It’s hardly the first video-game inspired cookbook of its kind but where fare like Fallout: The Vault Dweller’s Cookbook or Elder Scrolls: The Official Cookbook draw on source material that’s both rich and sprawling, O:TOC has to do more with less. Fair warning though, most of the drinks in this book are alcoholic so more research into substitutes would be required if you can't/don't want to have alcohol in these drinks. (Off the top of my head, I think Brigitte's is the only one that's non-alcoholic but if I'm wrong feel free to correct me).

O:TOC shakes out to include just shy of 100 recipes, divided firstly by geographical origin and then by the character they reflect. In addition to the recipe itself, each entry in the book also comes with a bit of flavor text that connects the dish or drink to the hero in question. Umami describes a savoury and “meaty” taste the former Crusader continues to feel long after eating foods like the cheesy Kasespatzle. Cook up more than 100 recipes inspired by the heroes of Blizzard Entertainment's hit game with Overwatch: The Official Cookbook. Winston stares at an empty meeting table in Watchpoint: Gibraltar and takes a bite of pineapple pizza. A smile comes while chewing. He relives happier moments with teammates and companions before the Petras Act left him isolated.

Okay, so sometimes Overwatch drives us to drink. There are toxic players in any gaming community and there’s also people that are just bad at the game. We don’t claim to be perfect, but we at least know how to stand on the payload. These Overwatch shot glasses are a great gift for the player that feels the need to take a shot every time their DPS dies because they’re not standing behind the Reinhardt shield. They’re really cool, decorative, and a great addition to anyone’s collection.

We’ve had a few teasers and a few glimpses at what to expect, but for now all we have is the original Overwatch. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Many of us are still chugging away, mastering each of Overwatch’s 32 playable characters. And many of us are still invested in the game’s ever-growing lore as well. For our main dish, I selected Sombra’s molletes which is basically a Mexican open-faced sandwich. Similar to a torta, this sandwich dish can be served for pretty much any meal and is incredibly easy to assemble. The included toppings can be easily customized for your taste or dietary restrictions. This particular mollete recipe calls for chorizo. Most major supermarkets carry the brand Cacique and it comes in pork, beef, and soy varieties. In my experience, this chorizo is not very flavorful so I definitely recommend adding spices to jazz it up. To make the meat for the dish go further, one tube is barely enough for two molletes, so I mixed the chorizo with ground turkey.Cook up more than ninety recipes inspired by the heroes of Blizzard Entertainment’s hit game with The Official Cookbook . This drink also finds a smooth, warm texture by incorporating heavy cream and butter. Players might feel soothed for a bit longer than usual before the next sip. These are some of the foods which deepen the personalities behind Overwatch’s battle-hardened characters. The “spread” for this sandwich is refried beans which you can easily buy a can of and simply heat up before serving. After you’ve got your meat and beans cooked, toast up your rolls. I used kaiser rolls from our grocery’s bakery but you can use any sort of bun or roll style bread. Slice in half and toast.

Support players choosing Zenyatta might love fun-sized pastries, as his recipes focus on delivering foods made to smile.
