Morrison doesn’t hold back from the messy details in any way, so this isn’t a book I’d recommend to anyone who isn’t already accustomed to extreme horror. He manages to lace a layer of pleasure into his reading that really fits the main character almost too well, and that’s definitely what you want with an Audiobook. I listened to this on a 3 hour road trip today, and would just love to know what the other drivers on the road thought was happening when they passed my car and saw a 21 year old girl screaming at nobody, steering one-handed with the other clamped over her mouth in complete revulsion, and/or staring out into the distance wondering how she arrived at a point in life where a book like Dead Inside was chosen for a "fun" Thursday read.

Overall, Dead Inside was a dark and disturbing read that turned out to be one of the most gripping novels I have read in a while despite its subject matter.However, the second he becomes aroused he freaks out and bolts from the house causing some tension between the pair but Helen dispels this by asking him to watch her eat and he agrees. This, in turn opens the door to reflections of the legitimacy of legal crimes involving dead bodies such as desecration, necrophilia or even cannibalism. I plan on giving this proper rant review soon, but for now I'll simply say that this is yet another overhyped book written by a man that thinks far too highly of himself and his writing abilities. Although nearly romantic by its promise of unapologetic acceptance, the plot of Dead Inside soon goes extreme (what else? I'm not sure how to rate this story - part of me wants to praise the author for the skill to make me read it all the way through, while another part wants to put drain cleaner and a straw into my ear to give my brain a cerebral enema.

The shock value is real and truly a selling point in reading something like this because I’ve never read a book that had a ton of OMG and WTF moments that blew my mind. Now one thing to remember is that if so many people struggled with this book then you’re going to need to pick a reader who can deal with it if they’re performing for an audience, but the thing that actually struck me about this is that not only did he deal with the subject matter but at one point during a fairly graphic description he sounded like he was about to climax. His revulsion towards respiration, sigh, warmth, wetness or even blood circulation might seem amusing, almost comical at first, but on a second thought it is consistent with his sexual orientation.In either case, both of our main protagonists are seriously disturbed and act on their abnormal proclivities. In contrast to MC she actually longs to be “normal” but at the same time she is much more able to share her darkness with someone else. First let me start my review by saying to check the trigger warnings before reading this book and it is very dark and contains themes like necrophilia so please be aware of that when reading this book and my review as I will be discussing it.
