The opening citrus notes are faithful to the original, and the leather is softer but almost more prominent. Citrus notes never overstay their welcome and burn off quite quickly, leaving sandalwood, leather and oakmoss, there's some patchouli and cinnamon incorporated too which help to round everything off nicely. I've smelled it before but I never had it before, this is my first time and I don't think it'll be the last, lol. My initial impression with only a squirt was that it started off sweet with the top citrus notes playing very subtly on my nose but I found the caraway to be too strong at times giving this that "old man" type vibe.

Its citrus and lavender accord is very crisp and clean, and I love how basil, caraway, and tarragon interact in the heart, forming a grassy herbal freshness around coumarin and anise. On the drydown it smells similar to the opening with a pleasant limey vibe with the scent of anise, basil, oakmoss, and leather. Main opening note for me is anise and tarragon (but not the synthetic anisey mess that one reviewer found) with some citrus freshness. When I was growing up my dad had a favorite chair and when he was at work, I'd sit in and catch whiffs of this stuff. Update: Wow, I just put another spray in my wrist, and I definitely get more of the citrus when first applied.This was my "signature scent" back in the late '80s (although such phrase was unknown to me at the time). Mes Amis de la Senteur - a quick perusal of my list will show that I am not afraid of strong colognes. Lavender and citrus for an hour or two until it settles in to some serious leather, wood, and spice.Typical late mid 40s man with a body that was once super fit, but is now getting thicker with all the drinking and dining out. The bottom notes are all about spicy basil (mandatory in any true Italian scent) sweetened by tonka and cinnamon. Perhaps it is the 1980's style musk with a combination with the anise and caraway that is such a turn off to me. I'll be honest with you, at first I thought that Araris's frags were for much older men and they weren't appealing to say a 20 year old. I prefer the vintage - no surprises there - but both work well, and the reform is admittedly more wearable in today's climate. Aramis Tuscany and Devin are definately cornerstone for todays woody perfumes same as Eau sauvage or Guerlein Vetiver, so if you are Classy man, this one is for you.

My skin seems to round some of the notes toward the feminine and I could certainly see myself wearing it with a very light touch and perhaps layered with some simple floral. Like APH, Tuscany's is of the kind of wafting aromatic character that radiates discreetly but noticeably, and is actually far more pleasant than the (still decent) skin scent. I still have about 1/3 left of one of the older bottles , I have had this for a very long time, it still smells fantastic, have not worn it in a long time.
