Born in Texas to Pakistani parents, Qadhi studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Houston, before studying at the Islamic University of Medinah in Saudi Arabia. Qadhi has written books and lectured widely on Islam and contemporary Muslim issues. [3] [7] A 2011 The New York Times Magazine essay by Andrea Elliott described Qadhi as "one of the most influential conservative clerics in American Islam." [8] Writing in 2017, journalist Graeme Wood called him "one of the two most prominent Muslim scholars in the United States today." [9] He has also consistently been listed in The 500 Most Influential Muslims, most recently in 2022. I remember once thinking it would be great if the Seerah series was in book form (as i prefer books) so when I found out it got published i was so excited and it truly didnt disappoint. I have listened to the entire Sirah Podcast by Yasir Qadhi which was absolutely brilliant and in-depth covering topics which are frequently discussed & written by Orientalists, Yasir Qadhi gives the Islamic perspective in his podcasts which are unparalleled in the English language. Although in the podcasts Yasir Qadhi mentions he does not "sugarcoat" I felt there was many things glossed over or not mentioned at all. Now I had some expectations for this Sirah book and was bitterly disappointed, the price is a premium compared to other Sirah books but other Sirah books are much better written. I honestly had the impression as i read the book that its been rushed & at times I felt I am reading notes taken from a class that have not been rephrased for the book. As I was reading the end of the book which covers the farewell Hajj the book seemed to drift away and was covering aspects of Hajj in detail which really I would expect to read in a book of Islamic Jurisprudence not Sirah. Yasir Qadhi is a phd so very well knows how to write a book as I have read previous books by the author that are well written hence this is why the book has a low rating compared to other books available. This book could have been a monumental 2 volume Sirah book had it covered the Podcasts by Yasir Qadhi. On a positive note I did like the drawings in the book which seemed they are drawn free hand.
