Description

This avoids diluting the effect of the treatment and spreading it to areas of skin that do not need it. When to apply emollients Zerocream contains parahydroxybenzoates, cetyl alcohol and lanolin which may cause local skin reactions or allergic reactions which may not appear immediately. How to get emollients

Prior agreement must be obtained by the specialist from the primary care provider before prescribing responsibility is transferred. The shared care protocol must have been agreed by the relevant secondary care trust Drugs and Therapeutics Committee(s) (DTC) and approved by the Nottinghamshire APC. Children under 1: Seek HCP advice before use. Adults: Add 20ml to a standard bath of warm water (8 inches deep). Infants and Children: Add 5ml to a small bath (25 litres) or washbasin of warm water. Immerse and cover the affected areas and soak for 10-20 minutes. Alternatively, gently sponge over the affected areas repeatedly. Pat dry with a towel. Date of preparation: Bath and shower emollientsshould never be prescribed see NHSE Items which should not be routinely prescribed in primary care.

Certain activities, such as gardening, can irritate the skin. It may help to apply an emollient before doing these.
