Leap Into The Era of the Beast When Soul Wars came out, I was a bit disappointed with the new sculpts. I liked my classic Stormcast Liberators and Retributors. The Sequitors were a bit meh – too many robes not enough massive hammers. But it was nice to finally see some female warriors front and centre. The new Thunderstrike Priest the Knight-Relictor is cheaper in cost. He has no built-in prayer on his warscroll but he does bring a new ability in that enemy Prayers and Invocations will not affect himself or friendly Stormcast wholly within 12” on a 4+ (rolled each time that unit would be affected). I was surprised by these sprues. After the Indomitus release where everything fitted together so easily and appropriately snug, I came into this expecting to blitz through building some of the highest detailed plastic models ever produced. This is another complex model and well put together. The Gryph-hound does have a join line across his chest and spine but these are easily hidden with a decent plastic glue and clean-up no more difficult than with a mould line. Dominion contains 2 forces of miniatures, the Stormcast Eternals, and the new Orruk Clan, the Kruleboyz. What was once a muddled setting with a stilted ruleset, Age of Sigmar is accelerating its growth, breaking away from existing tropes and evolving into something unique and memorable. If you were looking for a place to jump into the hobby, now is an exceptionally good time. Like the above, this will probably come in the mid- and top-tier Starter sets. The set includes a mighty Lord-Imperatant with accompanying Gryph-hound, a spell-casting Knight-Arcanum, a Knight-Vexillor with Banner of Apotheosis, three each of the elite Praetors and Annihilators, and 10 Vindictors. Not only that, but it includes the huntress supreme, Yndrasta, the Celestial Spear – a legendary hero of the Stormcast Eternals whose knowledge of Ghur, the Realm of Beasts, is second to none.

Theme – Do yo want your army to follow a particular theme? You can lean into one playstyle like hard-hitting and hard-to-shift Paladins or only-Thunderstrike (all the newer Stormcast) units. While you should never let this hamper your army ‘s ability to get things done it can be beneficial to have one thing you do really well and just really lean into it. That was almost as much of a pain to write up as it was to build. 49 parts on each sprue, that’s 98 parts in total. Speaking of whom, he has an awesome ornamental face plate on his hammer. Conceptually, AOS factions have tended to go after original mash-ups, combining disparate concepts to make bizarre, but eye-catching hybrids (tree people, delusional ghouls, steampunk flying dwarfs, and so on). So far, though, the greenskins seem to have been left out of that. Holding aloft icons wrought in the form of Kragnos, the Living Earthquake,* these strange devices offer protection against enemy magic and flood the battlefield with choking swamp gas.Knight-Vexillor with Banner of Apotheosis - The Knight-Vexillor is a support unit carrying the Banner of Apotheosis, which once per game can heal 3D3 wounds or return slain warriors split between three units. The banner also lets you reroll failed charge rolls for Stormcast units within twelve inches. Rumours abound in the Mortal Realms that Annihilators are unkillable. While that’s not strictly true, of the Paladins available to the Stormcast Eternals, Annihilators are the most durable. And they look fantastic too – there’s a reason we put them on the posters for the new edition, after all. It’s not the units themselves – they are highly detailed and look great. But in every starter box in the last half-decade or so, we’ve had really awesome Feature Units, some rank and file and then we have these. Think Chainrasps, think Necron warriors, think Poxwalkers.
