Something I loved about this book was that it didn’t just tell you “Do X, then Y, Then Z and Presto! Perfect puppy”, no, it tells you why you should do it in a certain way, and even gives you examples of the problems it may create if you don’t! It’s a fantastic insight into the mind of your dog.

The things we take for granted can be quite scary to a puppy or even to an older dog who has never come across them before. Don’t overwhelm them and let them get used to things in their own time. Employ some common sense though. If puppy is not keen on the washing machine, don’t put his crate right next to it. On the other hand, if you wait for the dog to go out before you switch it the washing on, the situation will never improve. Just make sure your dog can see and hear the monstrous machine from a distance and has something positive to pair with the sight and sound of it eg a yummy kong, filled with their favourite treats can be a fun thing to do whilst the washing machine monster is on!. Over time, the fear will subside – the dog will become habituated. Even if punishment works some of the time, is it worth it? If you end up with a dog that doesn’t trust you or a dog that doesn’t want to come near you? How can that ever be a good thing? We have an 8 month old labrador x golden retriever. We take him to puppy classes every week and hes doing well. But we seem to have s real struggle with him chewing everything. Would this book offer any advice for chewing or just standard training?? I liked the tips on basic training and managing all those puppy tantrums and difficult behaviours, they didn't all work for me but we keep going and hoping one day (before my dog becomes an OAP) that he will get what I am trying to teach him. One can hope!It could also hit more on enrichment, desensitisation and socialization in a more in depth manner – but then would Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy achieve it’s original goal of being a short compendium that’s easy to digest?
