If you haven’t seen it, Stranger Things(the show) draws influence from several retro sources, most notably the novels of Stephen King and child-endangerment movies of the ’80s such as The Gooniesand Stand By Me.Similarly, the Stranger Thingsvideo game takes inspiration from games of days gone by, especially late SNES titles. This is a little ironic since the show is set in 1985, just before the Nintendo Entertainment System debuted in select markets in the U.S., and the Super NES graphics the game is imitating wouldn’t show up for another decade.

Graphically I really liked the art style adopted for Stranger Things 3: The Game. It’s much better than the art used within their first Stranger Things game as this one looks more grown-up and realistic, rather than chibi-looking. Despite the pixel-art, you could clearly make out who everyone was, either from their character models or avatars, and all of the texts and instructional GUI was easy to read and understand. I particularly liked how dark and gritty certain parts of the game became – if you’ve watched the show then you’ll know how this season was the darkest and most brutal it’s been so far; the game doesn’t disappoint with its hideous creatures and rather disturbing encounters. My main issue with the game is that it feels like a companion to the series, a side ‘thing’ for fans to play through and relive the events whilst exploring the environments and new residents of Hawkins. However, the appeal for people who haven’t seen the show, or those who would rather play a game than watch the show, is a bit lower in my opinion. This opinion of mine all comes down to two things, continuity and being faithful to the source material. Pretty much a narrative 1:1 match with the Netflix series with some additional story content thrown in, Stranger Things 3: The Game’s numerous acts directly correlate with the eight episode count of the current season. As a result, if you haven’t watched all of Stranger Things season 3 yet, it is strongly recommended that you do so before playing this game, not least because the potential for fist-clenching spoilers is substantial to say the least. Players replay scenes from the third season of Stranger Things. There are twelve playable characters from the series, each of whom has a unique weapon and abilities. The weapons can be upgraded using a crafting system. [1] Players can explore the open world, [2] but some areas are only accessible if players have recruited a specific character. The decision to focus on a multiplayer core is severely neutered by having no online play. Sharing the mediocrity would be an improvement over slogging through it alone, but the size of the game demands too much for "couch co-op" to feel convenient or relevant. Rather than forcing my buddies to come over, we're going to all stay at home and play **** Valley online together instead. But this would only be a 6/10 with online multiplayer intact, so maybe its not a big issue? With the previous Stranger Things game, BonusXP blended a proven retro gaming formula - a little bit Zelda, a little bit Metroid - with the plot of Season 2 and the outcome was a totally pleasant and comprehensively engaging distraction.

STRANGER THINGS is a brand-new Chapter for Dead by Daylight that features a new Killer and two new Survivors. The Entity descends upon the midwestern town of Hawkins, Indiana as Stranger Things, the critically acclaimed Netflix Original Series, enters the realm of Dead by Daylight. In regards to continuity, there are a few key scenes that don’t play out the same as the show. Whereas I agree this is all down to artistic license and having to expand a three-minute scene and turn it into a quest or a boss battle, the narrative and overall experience shouldn’t differ too much from the source material. One such example is at one point, there’s a “three months later” scene in the show. In the game, the same scene is “two months later”. I know it’s not a big difference, but there are some other events that also didn’t match up. characters are playable in the game, including Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will, Max, Hopper, Joyce, Jonathan, Nancy, Steve and Erica.
