So Autumn is upon us, and time to look at a Mexican holiday celebration which is new to my boys: Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos which is the first two days of November. When teaching your 3rd-grade kids about the unique holiday of Dia de los Muertos, you can use this Día de Muertos/Day of the Dead Lesson PowerPoint & Google Slides to help you do so. This presentation contains several slides with different facts and information about this holiday. Each slide also contains colorful illustrations to visually engage your kids.I personally always been interested in the Day of the Dead myself – I like the idea of celebrating the dead and making the “morbid, less morbid”. On the día de los muertos families, will visit relatives at the graveyard with candies, treats, drinks and gifts by their graveside or ofrenda. Multiple levels on the altar (you can do this with cardboard boxes that are decorated with paper or a tablecloth. Explain that the paper banners are often made of t issue paper and put up around altars as an offering. Specific patterns of papel picados are believed to hold significant meaning and worldly influence. Thus, the design that is cut into a papel picado is determined by the particular event of which it is di splayed. Common themes include birds, floral designs, and skeletons.
