Named Clothing is a Finnish indie fashion label initiated in August 2013 by sisters and designers Saara and Laura Huhta. The term “breaking patterns” traditionally has been associated with dangerous behaviors, such as taking actions to break the pattern of addiction and other bad habits. The patterns are in a range of sizes from UK sizes 8 to 22 (34 to 50 EUR sizes), with concise information on measuring yourself and finding the perfect fit. The pattern doesn’t have a lining and I can’t really picture how I could add one without needing tons of fabric (since there is no waist seam I can’t think of a way to only line part of it). This fabric is chestnut peachskin which I bought in a little splurge at Fabric Godmother literally days before last year's Black Friday.

The book includes ten sewing patterns, each pattern has two variations so twenty patterns in total and tutorials on how to do more with each pattern.For example, if they intentionally started to protect one or two mornings as “meeting free,” instead of accepting every calendar invite that came their way, they now had four to eight hours of focused work time. I might even go ahead and make this adjustment to the current dress so that I can get more wear out of it. It’s still annoying flipping between pages but you can see the main instructions easily and it also gives it a smaller footprint on my workspace. When I saw the previews I had my eye on the Ruska Knot Dress, the Solina Dress, and the Saraste shirt dress. This was especially helpful for those whose days were so packed with meetings that they couldn’t find enough blocks of time to get their “real work” done.

But I reckon this is the lightest weight of fabric that can withstand the long invisible zipper in the back. I still have a way to go with getting my finishing neat at the top of a zip at the back of the neck - mine always come out looking a bit mangled and my hooks and eyes are always floating oddly! The book makes you look at what is holding you back and gives suggestions as to how to remove, solve, or accept these problems so that you can put yourself back on track and be able to follow your dreams.

Sizing aside, I find the sleeves a little short which is weird as I'm 2" shorter than the height this pattern is drafted for (I'm 5'6" compared to Named drafting for 5'8").
