Spacers and gap fillers, as the plastic strips can sit between two edges or slide underneath an edge to fill a gap. Our plastic strips are manufactured from uPVC although it is important to point out the difference between the plastic material we use and the plastic material used by the double-glazing and widow industries. In those industries, additional stabilisers are often added to the uPVC, whereas our material is standard uPVC. Rigid PVC strips are manufactured from a different material to our flexible plastic strips and we encourage you to request samples if you are unsure which material to choose. The installation is not finished. I stopped the work as I was unhappy with this (and other aspects of the job).

Inspect the repair under both natural and artificial light. The surface should be flat and as smooth to the touch as UPVC. Give it a final wipe down with methylated spirits. Is it flat? Can you tell a repair has been made if you are standing 4ft away (other than the difference in colour between the repair compound and UPVC)? Most of our flat plastic strips have square edges, but we also have a few sizes with round edges. This means that two of the edges of the plastic strips are slightly rounded. Square edge plastic strips It depends on whether you choose rigid plastic strips or flexible plastic strips as to how bendable the plastic strip will be. This material is different to our rigid plastic strips and we encourage you to request samples if you are unsure which material to choose. Solid plastic strips My issue is that this filler piece is 35mm wide. So I figure they made the window 35mm too small vertically - with the filler in situ there is still clearance above to fit the window. The same window on the neighbour's house fits with no filler pieces, and looks a lot better for that.Attach the appropriate tapered applicator nozzle and, trim the applicator nozzle to the desired aperture. Run a continuous bead of sealant along the aperture and leave to cure. The curing period will be determined by the width and depth of aperture to be filled and, the temperature and weather conditions at the time of application, which could extend to a number of days.

As regards the appearance of the bathroom window inside and out, I know that it will grate with me. It's not right. During the curing process you will experience some degree of shrinkage of the product through solvent evaporation. Cures rapidly to provide a calour fast finish, however it is not suitable for use on expanded or foil wrapped PVC or PVC trim. Looking at the interior photo (my 2nd post) you can just see the line (look just below the tiles at the top) where the window frame meets the filler piece. On the outside shot it is less clear, but at the left and right ends of the top of the window frame you can just make out where the filler meets the frame. Thanks to both for replies. The smallest width of plastic (PVC) flat bar strips range is 6mm and the widest is 142mm. Firstly, an explanation as to what uPVC actually means. PVC is an abbreviation for ‘polyvinyl chloride’ and ‘u’ is an abbreviation for ‘unplasticised.’ Therefore uPVC means the material is unplasticised polyvinyl chloride.
