Ultimately, the book is short and fun but I don’t think it was necessary for Princess Mia’s legacy. Princess in Waiting – Between canceled dates with her long-sought-after royal consort, a second semester of the dreaded Algebra, more princess lessons from Grandmère, and the inability to stop gnawing on her fingernails, isn’t there anything Mia is good at besides inheriting an unwanted royal title? There are many light moments that will help readers stop getting stressed from reading about the pandemic. I loved getting some steamy scenes between Mia and Michael! And you can't help but love Grandmere and her antics.

Mia lived most of her life in Greenwich Village and uses a talent for writing to chronicle her life in personal diaries. The other day I read something about doing more Princess Diaries movies. Well, turns out there already are some materials available for inspiration. What’s the Princess Diaries series about? The Crais family. Finnula's siblings have distinct personalities and I would have liked to see more of them. But no - we have instead a goofy resolution in which Michael swoops in to save Mia as she’s trying to persuade an antivaxxer relative to see the light. The thing is, Mia’s idea was good! She brings a former antivaxxer relative, a peer of this one, to explain why Covid is a genuine threat. We all know that quoting scientific facts like Michael often doesn’t convince antivaxxers, so would it not have been more effective to both make Mia’s strategy work AND reinforce how socially and verbally intelligent she is???? I guess the goopy love declaration and the kiss at the end are supposed to do that for us!

Mia is sometimes shy and has a down-to-earth personality, though on occasion Mia shows herself to be quite sarcastic and sly. Throughout the series she is very self-critical of herself, describing herself as flat-chested, taller than most girls at 5-foot-9, and with embarrassingly large feet. She also has a tendency to over-analyze things and worry too much.Also I genuinely love most of the book but somewhere, the "awareness" that it tries to reflect crosses the line into preachy... not so much that I'd give the book less than 4 stars, but definitely enough that I CANNOT in good conscience give it all 5. It's not fair to the OG books... I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Avon Books and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased. The series is set primarily in the Manhattan borough of New York City. Some books take place in Genovia, a fictional European country. Genovia is a principality between France and Italy ruled by Mia's father, Prince Philippe Renaldi, and by Mia's grandmother, Dowager Princess Clarisse Renaldi. Honestly, after all we’ve been through, what could be more comforting for any lover of royal romance than snuggling up with a brand new installment of the diary of the princess who started it all? Look for it in March 2023!

It's kinda cringe that Mia is still insecure about Judith Gershner after all these years. It's not like Michael and Judith ever had a long-term relationship; they hooked up once and that was it. I can understand teenage Mia freaking out about it, but adult Mia, wedded mother of two, whose husband had never given her reason to worry? Just comes off as silly Ransom my Heart has some of my favourite romance tropes such as strangers/enemies-to-lovers, love interests being forced together due to the most absurd circumstances and fake dating (or in this case, fake marriage). However, I've read books that make better use of these tropes. There isn't much chemistry between Finnula and Hugo. From the moment Hugo meets Finnula, he's attracted to her, but that attraction is mostly sexual. All he cares about is getting Finnula into his bed. The sex scenes in Ransom my Heart are also pointless and does nothing to further the plot or develop the romantic relationship between the main characters. While RANSOM MY HEART has its share of historical romance tropes - scheming teenage girls, corrupt bailiffs, mistaken identity, and disastrous miscommunication - readers will find these as familiar landmarks rather than repetitive scenery. Meg Cabot seems to have a lot of fun playing with our expectations and then subverting them. Content warnings: alcohol consumption, forced marriage, kidnapping, lethal injuries, loss of a parent & sibling (mentioned), murder, poisoning (mentioned), sexual content She did warn me about the ending. She said this book has a crappy ending. I listened to her anyway. When she hung up, I really wanted to read the story by myself (even though I know the whole thing already. I JUST HAD TO READ IT MYSELF.) So I did. And I stopped right at chapter 11. I could sense this is where things start to go downward.Mia's (Meg's) writing abilities continue to blow me away. It was just amazing. No, telling you it was amazing doesn't do it any justice because it truly was a great book. I mean seriously good. I've read this book THREE TIMES! That's how good this book is! Fun Fact: Finnula has a dog with the name 'Gros Louis' which is French for 'Fat Louie' (Princess Mia's cat).

The Princess Diaries is a young adult series written by Meg Cabot. It’s about Mia who is the princess and heir to the throne of Genovia, a small country in Europe.I normally don't read Historical Romances, but I really liked the short snippets of this story we got in Forever Princess and I thought that I should give it a go. I was not disappointed. The writing and plot were my favourite bits of this book though! Cabot's signature sarcastic humour and lively storytelling were the main reason I finished reading this book. There were several moments when I was giggling at hilarious dialogue and the nasty mishaps these characters kept falling into.
