You’ve probably also read that exercise can help with anxiety, but you’re not always in the position to exercise every time you get anxious. I mean, what are you supposed to do when you’re getting on a plane, jog around the aisles? Anxiety is both a mental and physical state of negative expectation. Mentally it is characterized by increased arousal and apprehension tortured into distressing worry, and physically by unpleasant activation of multiple body systems—all to facilitate response to an unknown danger, whether real or imagined. Yet, at the same time, they also experienced a dramatic reduction in stress. Some of them even entered a highly pleasurable, trance-like state. The cognitive feelings of dread in anticipation of some bad outcome, and physical sensations such as jitteriness and a racing heart are designed for discomfort. Anxiety is meant to capture attention and stimulate you to make necessary changes to protect what you care about. Occasional bouts of anxiety are natural and can even be productive. Anxiety can be considered the price we humans pay for having the ability to imagine the future.

Call an anxiety helpline – they may be able to talk through your symptoms on the phone and give you some good advice (they’re used to speaking to people with anxiety) This is a BIG ONE for me. Aim for a healthier balance, to keep your body and mind stable Pro Tip: When you do go out and socialize, I’d recommend avoiding alcohol because whilst this might relax you at first, alcohol tends to create more anxiety later on. Everyone’s different, and I can’t just tell you what to do and BOOM it’s gonna work – but I have a very complex mind, almost like I’m fighting against myself a lot of the time and what I’m sharing with you manages to work so… It is neither possible nor desirable to eliminate anxiety entirely, as it plays a crucial role in keeping us alert and alive. The crushing presence of high anxiety forces me to be exactly where I am at that moment. I’m not able to read or write. I cannot play a video game or watch a movie with any kind of enjoyment.
