The characters are compelling and the transaction between character perspectives is almost flawless.

My only criticism is that once the book delves into the action, there is not quite enough time to appreciate the settings and characters, therefore some further description would have been nice.The theme of overpopulation remains present throughout the story, and all the main characters have clear motivation for their actions. Other secondary characters were all different and there should be some interesting things come up in the next book, particularly relating to Storm. While we are on the topic of Lincoln I would just like to say that the "romance" was old YA and honestly, I didn't think this shit was around anymore. Stormchaser and Lincoln find themselves back on Piloria, very quickly after their first visit, but this time with three viruses to kill off the most deadliest dinosaurs. Storm named one of the friendlier ones Milo and I loved him- they have a history which is explained well and it stands in contrast to everything the people are told of dinosaurs being mindless and who only eat people.

The majority of pages are undamaged with some creasing or tearing, and pencil underlining of text, but this is minimal.She loves the outdoors so much she'll willing dumb down her scores at school so she can continue working outside. None of it really made sense until I came to chapter 5 when it started talking more about the work these citizens do.

This book is now one of my favourite books because it is just so inventive and different and just enjoyable to read! Except the color is apparently unusual even for people who come from far reaches of Earthasia so she’s most likely the only one with eyes this color. it has a mysterious reptilian cover that wills you to open the pages to begin and then, before you get to the first chapter the reader is greeted with a map, (love a map, of a new unexplored fantasy world) it may be a basic one, but once again it encourages and excites you to begin an adventure that I'm positive you will not be able, like myself, to put down. S M Wilson might not fare well herself in her novels – she describes herself as having ‘no survival skills’. She wrote The Extinction Trials to try and infect her sons with the same love of reading that she has - watch out, she's hoping it's contagious!It’s about the possibility of extinction and the quest for survival…oh and did I mention there are dinosaurs! M. Wilson has been able to achieve with her first young adult title is nothing short of brilliant, the book is engaging, fast paced, deals with many issues of culture and class divides and of how we look after the world; all issues that could be compared to a society we live in today, all wrapped up with a wonderful dystopian vibe. but with 100 competing, just how many people do they think will survive this time around that so many are needed?

Only there’s also dinosaurs, so it’s not quite futuristic (BUT HOW COOL WOULD IT BE IF THERE WERE TO BE DINOSAURS IN OUR FUTURE? This guy gives her weird looks throughout the book, this coupled with the fact that they both have the same “unusual” eyes, it still took someone else politely mentioning it for her to realize that this guy may be her father. I really, really loved this book, the characters, the concept, the world building, everything about it was fascinating and exciting. With some twist and turns and some survival needs or adventurous need (counting of the character you talk about) Lincoln and Storm Chaser and well a few others (100 to be exact) end up on Piloria with a special little task to complete…. The characters are only 15 (should have known then) so I'm thinking that this is targeted at a much younger audience?It’s a book I can’t wait to share with my children when they get a little bit older, until then, I’ll be keeping it safe for them.
