Description

Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden color with a small head of puffy white foam. The head has a moderate level of retention, fading slowly and leaving a touch of lace on the sides of the glass. A Pilsener beer for the masses and this one doesn’t disappoint. Fresh from Germany’s most northern brewery, Flensburger Pilsener is a brilliant yellow in colour with a white head. The pleasing aroma of this lager is that of grain and malts. The flavour is mildly bitter with a crisp hoppy taste on the palate. This easy drinking beer also has caramel notes with hints of lemongrass. Light citrus is apparent, with a long dry finish. A full bodied pilsner guaranteed to satisfy.

Head – Average (Maximum 1.5 cm, aggressive center pour), white, low density and average retention, diminishing to an undulating one to two mm crown fed by moderate carbonation and a thin partial cap. The brewery is steeped in history and has been brewing beer in Flensburg since 1871. His farsightedness led theFlensburg Brewery on the road to success. An outward-looking, maritime spirit infects everything Flensburger does. The brewery’s brand mark features a ship in full sail, setting out to discover the world. Well the world has already discovered Flensburger’s beers, and they can’t stop the ‘Plop!’Founded in the marvellously-named German state of Schleswig-Holstein, Flensburger Brauerei was founded in 1888 by 5 citizens of Flensburg. Today, it ’ s still mostly owned by two of the founding families which is unusual for a country-wide operating brewery. Flensburger make traditional Pilsener, Dunkel and Weisen style beers, as well as seasonal and non-alcoholic brews. Since running a marketing campaign emphasizing the stereotype of the stoic, blunt and ironic North German mentality the Flens brand has become a symbol of self-identification for the region.

Flavor – 3.25 – Follows nose - no yeast. Maybe a slightly appley note. No ethanol (4.8 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. No gastric warming occurs. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
