A downside to using slam fire is the inability to deprime a blaster, as the firing trigger is disconnected from the catch if the slam trigger is not actuated to the catch. While this may be less of a problem with un modified blasters, those that have been modified with stronger springs or removed air restrictors can be damaged this way, if the blaster is dry fired without a dart loaded. It is not unheard of to convert a blaster to being able to slam fire through the use of a kit; however, these are uncommon.

This blaster appeals to many toy gun enthusiasts because of its motorized semi-auto that allows you to shoot with power, speed and intensity. The feature makes it easier for you to engage the action and blast at your target with remarkable precision. You need a gun of such functional effect if you intend to stay out in the fields for long hours as you engage multiple targets. The motorized semi-auto works with great efficiency and enhances the ease and quality of action. You will like the elite darts that come with this blaster because of their superior design that enhances their velocity and impact. The designers chose a shape and size that streamlines the darts for greater speed and accuracy. These darts rarely misfire and always stay on their course as desired by the gunner’s aim. You are more likely to hit your target with these elite darts than with the random darts that are usually made without serious regard to the details of mass, weight, size and shape.

A good trigger for a Nerf gun should help you shoot with great rapidity and contribute sufficiently to your capacity to operate with greater tactical flexibility. This blaster features an efficient trigger that functions with ease and precision both for close range and long range action. The trigger action is part of the collective mechanism that launches the darts on their course with impressive velocity. Besides, the trigger helps you to achieve semi-auto blasting with high impact. The Hail-Fire is advertised as the "highest capacity Nerf blaster ever", claiming a maximum capacity of 144 darts. This, however, requires separate accessories and additional darts than what is included, as the Hail-Fire only includes twenty-four darts and four six dart clips. With the Zuru X-Shot Excel Crusher, I can't really make any of the same complaints I've made above about insufficient dart quantity. This thing has an auto-rotating ammo belt with a 35-dart capacity. I wasn't initially very excited about this gun's performance. It tested in the lower half of average velocity speeds and that made for poor performance in the distance tests. It did, however, place third overall in our accuracy and consistency tests. The first Nerf blaster to feature the ability to slam fire was the 2009 N-Strike Raider Rapid Fire CS-35. Using a full set of ten dart clips will give a maximum capacity of eighty darts. A full set of eight twelve dart clips will give a maximum of ninety-six darts. The 144 capacity claim, however, is matched when a full set of eighteen dart clips is used.With this much fire-power, it should be obvious but it bears stating outright: This gun is not for kids, and is recommended for ages 14 and up. If you qualify, I can tell you, this gun is super-satisfying to shoot. Because of its outstanding test scores, we disqualified this gun from use in our final Capture the Flag battle, because, you know, we didn't want to actually murder someone.

The semi-auto blasting effect of this gun gives it a great advantage, particularly in situations that require intense and sustained action. Compared to ordinary toy guns, this machine is less susceptible to jamming and remains stable and reliable during prolonged shooting. The N-Strike Elite Hail-Fire weighs 3.8 pounds, which is about the right weight for a gun with such payload. The manufacturers intended this semi-auto blaster to indulge the fun of gun enthusiasts from the age of eight upwards. This feature stands out because of its flawless functional quality and user-friendly appeal. In fact, this single feature alone contributes a lot to the overall advantage of capacity for which this blaster is highly regarded. If you are handling this blaster for the first time, you will notice that its various parts work collectively with impressive technical harmony that makes it truly exceptional. More often than not, slam firing will cause a blaster's accuracy and firing range to decrease, the former due to the action of slam firing often destabilizing. Slam firing blaster may also lead to jams and damaged darts, if done improperly. The way darts feed into a blaster can be a factor in this, due to not having time to properly seat into the blaster before it is fired. This gun looks cool. Being a major Arnold Schwarzenegger fan growing up, I'll take any excuse to reenact a Terminator 2 scene with this mini gun, some shades and one of the worst Austrian accents to date. It was the crown jewel of the Elite blaster lineup. It stood for everything the Elite blasters were meant to represent: New risky designs, large over the top ammo capacity, and increased firepower and range. It accomplished this mostly. It is still the highest capacity Nerf blaster out there today. It still keeps up with the established 75 foot range of other Elite blasters. But its weird, bulky, awkward design just is not for me. It’s hard to reload on the fly, it’s not very easily maneuverable. It’s meant to be more of a heavy fire, suppressive fire type of thing. That was never my style, though. The Nerf Hail-Fire.
