The first half was especially hard for me to get through. The author succeeded a bit too well at making Bonnie and her BFF Dakota two ugly Americans. Bonnie in particular was completely self absorbed, moving across the world at Dakota’s whim without lifting a finger to study the country or customs. Piping for dancing has been a big part of my life. My two sisters were highland dancers and latterly became highland dance teachers. When I got on to the pipes, my dad and bagpipe tutor (Sandy MacPhee) encouraged me to play for the dancers that were getting instruction in our house from my sisters. My dad felt that time spent in the dance class playing pipes and playing for the dancers would only improve my competitive piping. My wife is a highland dance teacher, examiner, and adjudicator as well as a former six-time World Champion and Chairman of The Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing (highland dancing’s world governing body). I have been piping for dancers for 40 years and seen many parts of the world because I was able and willing to pipe for dancers. I hope this article encourages you to pipe for dancers and will give you all the necessary information to make the task at hand a wee bit easier. In most competitions, the number of competing women far exceeds the number of men. As for the reason I was crying, well it really just had to do with Rowan's family and their struggles. It was pretty well written and after Rowan got a horrible call from his family and found Bonnie snooping in his pottery shed... well when he was yelling, it almost felt like he was yelling at me 💀 It is strictly FORBIDDEN for any participant to run in place of another runner. The organisers have a zero tolerance policy to any form of discrimination. ​ Scottish Highland dancing is a celebration of the Scottish spirit. The dances are a spectacular combination of strength, agility, precision, movement, music, and costume. Unlike other dance mediums, Highland dances are generally danced solo and in competition. Dances are set to traditional Scottish music such as Strathspeys, Reels, Hornpipes, and Jigs all played by an accompanying bagpiper. The traditional dances are made up of intricate parts, called steps, with each dance usually consisting of 4 to 6 steps. Highland dancing is great fun and inclusive to anyone who thrills to the sound of bagpipes, not just those with a Scottish heritage. After Rowen hangs out with Bonnie while Dakota is on her date that starts the turning point for these two who were more enemies than friends. Even though, they are able to get along and work towards a common purpose of rejuvenating the coffee shop they still have hardships ahead of them. There are moments that challenge their relationship.
