Bacon bits or bacon crumbles is one condiment you need to have around if you are an avid home cook! Slice the strips in half lengthwise so they are thinner. Then, cut horizontally into chunks (remember they will shrink down when they cook). Spread bacon bits in a thin layer over a sheet of parchment paper and place in the freezer for 2-3 hours. Bacon Bits made in the skillet– Heat a large frying pan over medium high heat. Place the bacon in the skillet in a single layer. Cook the bacon for 2-3 minutes on one side until it starts to turn golden brown, then flip it over and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the other side. Keep flipping the bacon every 1-2 minutes until it’s crispy and golden brown on both sides. Continue with recipe draining the bacon grease and chopping bacon bits.
