After the first week of November Mercury will become visible above the southwestern horizon after sunset. Its position several degrees south of the ecliptic will hold it very low in the sky for mid-northern latitude observers — making this a very poor apparition for them, but an excellent one for residents of the tropics and the Southern Hemisphere where the planet will be much higher after sunset.

UK science has played a key role in building our understanding of the Arctic. In terms of published research, UK-based scientists are ranked first among non-Arctic states in the number of published articles. Climate change will continue to have a devastating impact on Arctic ecosystems and communities, with increases in the frequency and intensity of rapid sea-ice loss events, melt events on the Greenland Ice Sheet, wildfires and permafrost thaw. Unique ecosystems are at risk and some are vanishing, and the change in climate is threatening the subsistence, harvest-based livelihoods of small Arctic communities – especially Indigenous communities. It's easy to measure distances between objects: Your fist on an outstretched arm covers about 10 degrees of sky, while a finger covers about one degree. Looking north, the Rialto Bridge is seen from the Fondamenta del Carbon. To the left, or west, the Riva del Vin terminates in the Palazzo dei Dieci Savi at the foot of the bridge. At the extreme right is the corner of the Gothic Palazzo Bembo; the eye is led up the Fondamenta del Carbon, over a small bridge that crosses the Rio di San. Salvatore, and straight into a colonnade under the imposing Palazzo Dolfin-Manin. Beyond the palazzo, leading up to Rialto, is the Riva del Ferro. The point from which the pendant is painted can just be made out under the arch of the bridge at the extreme left. The low white house seen there is probably the same that features in the extreme lower left corner of the pendant (see fig. 1). In 2019, we signed an FTA with the Faroe Islands, and in 2020 signed a Fisheries Framework Agreement which provides the platform for our annual bilateral fisheries negotiations. The UK continues to develop links with the Faroe Islands in areas including green energy transition, digital and transport connectivity, and sustainable tourism. The UK and Faroe Islands signed a Memorandum of Understanding on space launches in April 2020, with work ongoing with the Greenlandic Government to agree handling of launch debris in the waters around Greenland. We are strengthening our joint military training, exercises and personnel exchange programmes with the US, with a particular focus on enhancing interoperability to ensure we are prepared to respond to any eventuality, including any that may occur in the Arctic region. In 2020, the UK recommenced routine naval operations in the High North alongside the US. Most recently, in March 2022, thousands of UK and US military personnel worked side-by-side in the ninth iteration of the multidomain Norway-led Exercise Cold Response 2022 and in May 2022, the UK and the US announced plans to coordinate more closely through our continued work between the Royal Navy and the US Coast Guard, including in the Arctic region. The UK will also look to strengthen multilateral relationships with Arctic States through collaboration as members of the High Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy – a global initiative to drive the transition to a sustainable ocean economy that the UK announced it will join at the UN Ocean Conference 2022.

The Arctic Council has been the leading intergovernmental forum promoting cooperation, coordination and interaction on common Arctic issues since its inception in 1996. Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2021, its longevity is a testament to the important role the Council has played in promoting peace and cooperation in the Arctic. In recent decades scholars have gradually reviewed the chronology of Guardi's early view paintings. Goering 19 believed he began in 1745 or before, while Morassi 20 considered his earliest views to be a group dating from 1745-50. James Byam-Shaw 21 believed Guardi to have turned to view painting only after 1755 and later Dennis Mahon 22 pointed out that one of the pictures in the collection of the Duke of Buccleuch (which was one of the key paintings in Morassi's first group) included the bulbous campanile of San Bartolommeo in Rialto which was only completed on 1 st April 1754. As Michael Levy later stated, "such a date would accord much better as the likely period for the whole group's execution." 23A. In a telescope, the planet will display a half-illuminated phase and an apparent disk diameter of 22 arc-seconds. With each passing day, Venus will slowly increase in illuminated phase, shrink in size, and diminish in brightness.
