Optical image stabilisation is not included with this lens. Again, this is something to note when you consider that neither the Fujifilm X-T2 or X-Pro 2 feature image stabilisation in the bodies. Focal Range Fuji cameras use APS-C size sensors with a 1.53X crop factor. To get a 35mm field of view (essentially the width and height of the frame) you need to use a 23mm lens. Up until now the only option was the excellent Fuji 23mm f1.4 lens but this thing is gargantuan. Seriously, it’s about the size of a coffee cup sitting on the front of the camera and not at all something I’d want to lug around for a day of shooting. Having part of the lens hood or lens barrel covering the corners of the view through an optical viewfinder. A few people have reported that this lens is soft when shooting wide open at close focus distances (2 feet or less). But just about every lens in the world is sharper when stopped down than it is wide open so I wouldn’t really worry about this.

Set your aperture at f8 and focus at 12 feet and the blue depth of field scale at the bottom of the viewfinder shows approxiamtely 6 feet to infinity as being in focus. Just the way it should be. FINALLY! Of course, the depth of field was still in the shot even though the in-camera scale was incorrect but it’s nice to know you can use this scale when setting up your shots moving forward. With the typical boost in performance from firmware correction, there’s just the merest touch of pincushion which is generally impossible to spot in images. VerdictFor me, however, I have always maintained that I want the smallest camera possible, which is as plain as possible, but does the best job possible. My name is Philipp Meiners. Shooting subjects at fairly close range also revealed the older XF 23mm f1.4 to be sharper than its newer sibling. The text on the beer bottle in the example above is noticeably crisper on the XF 23mm f1.4 version than the XF 23mm f2 version – see below. So far, besides the 23mm F2 lens, I also own the 55-200mm lens. I bought this lens because I wanted to have the flexibility in upcoming vacation trips and also for some street photos, even though I don’t like the compression of a street photo with a zoom lens too much. But without this lens, my most favorite shot of 2020 wouldn’t have been possible or I had to crop the image crazily. I am going to be very upfront and honest about this. The Fujifilm XF 23mm F/2 is my favourite lens. I am going to share with you why this lens is well worth considering. When I'm shooting dancing for example, I'm usually zone focusing and setting a relatively fast shutter speed of 1/125 or even faster. I found I needed that extra stop of light. But remember, I shoot with available light - if you use strobes, then this will be a mute point.To find out I shot two compositions at dusk which included some bright, distant lights. First a view of The City of London from the South Bank. Here’s the full composition below and below that I’ve cropped and enlarged a portion from just below right of centre which featured the best-defined diffraction spikes. I shot both lenses at their minimum apertures of f16.
