What did I like about this book specifically? The book has a deeper meaning (if you allow yourself to really think about it) than the actual story that is being played out by the characters in the book. Through her own journey, Faith will prove once and for all that there is not just one path to happily ever after. When there's a new Danielle Steel book out, I feel compelled to read it. Suspects is her latest. It's a short book that offers no surprises - but that's not why you read Danielle Steel. Her books are little treats that can be gobbled down in a sitting or two and offer an enjoyable escape. A little glitz and glamour are always fun when there's some espionage added. Not her best but enjoyable, nevertheless.

I was so amazed at how Antonia was so successful having been a witness to her mother and father's constant fighting and growing up knowing her mother abandoned her to become an actress. Then her father became so indifferent to her treating her with so much indifference. I felt terrible for Antonia but seeing as this is fiction she overcame her terrible childhood. This was interesting and a lighter read for me that I still enjoyed because of the resilience and triumph over adversity. I needed a break from some of the heavier novels and Non-Fiction that I had been reading before this. Danielle Steel can be somewhat repetitive, but this was a book that was well written and different than most of her books in everything wasn't perfect. In Antonia she has created a unique character who is able to thrive despite her cold mother and then her father's neglect to show her any warmth. This is just the beginning of Antonia's life trajectory. What I have included in this review will not reach spoiler territory as it is just the beginning. I would rate this about 4.5 stars. I am so grateful to have read this as it was imaginative and was unpredictable. I read this Author's book "Beautiful," which was powerful and this was enjoyable but not as in depth. Still all in all I won't soon forget this and it is one of this Author's favorite novels. I would recommend this and I loved Antonia. You will have to read this for yourself to find out how the story reaches its arc. The second author is Danielle Steel. I often have to defend my passion for her stories. Some find her writing style too bland and repetitive. Both of these critiques are accurate but for me that's part of her charm. I can count on every book to contain relatable characters. They will face physical, mental or moral challenges that speak to all of us. Steel is a master of drawing the reader in - I cry through each book.

The main idea of the book was ambitious but not all that well developed. To summarize, the story follows a total of six siblings and their various storylines in the aftermath of a tragedy (respectfully, I won't divulge the details any further than this for those who decide to read the book). This was a hard book to read due to the crisis in the Ukraine. While the author's intent was a thrilling espionage and killer romance, I 'suspect' it will be difficult subject matter.This is a warm, touching novel that reveals the resilience and loving support of a family on the heels of a tragic loss. At a time when the news headlines carry daily reminders of the sad state of human interactions, this story provided a much-needed, heart-warming respite. Each face challenges, come together and follow a journey of self discovery while dealing with grief. Invisible covers the story of Antonia and follows her from her neglected childhood to her career in film. She’s the daughter of an aspiring actress and a businessman and grew up in a home where she was neglected. Her mother didn’t want a baby and eventually left the family to pursue an acting career. Her father blames her for his wife’s leaving and buries himself in his work, neglecting poor Antonia. She decides it’s best to stay invisible as that keeps her out of trouble. As she gets older she finds refuge in the movies and goes to the movies as often as possible. She decides she wants to be a screenwriter and applies to NYU film school. Before she was born, her mother Fabienne was clear that she DID NOT want to have a baby. However, Brandon her dad was so sure once baby was born she would change her mind. He did the entire baby prepping for the nursery etc. Dad tried but nothing worked and he soon resented Antonia as she was the reason his wife left. He turned into a mean person. But then Andy’s world is upended. The studio is sold, and the buyer’s son demands the top seat. Out of a job and humiliated, Andy spirals. When his head clears, he decides to get as far away from Los Angeles as possible until the dust settles and he can find a new way forward.

With additional topics on injury, terrorism, travel, family, secrets, heartbreak, strength, self-acceptance, humanity, kindness and reinvention all coming into play in this story, Danielle Steel has composed a strong thematic tale. The start-up of Beautiful is typical Danielle Steel territory. Beautiful features a slow start and it is followed some rather information heavy prose. Unfortunately there is little exploration of a decent storyline. Beautiful had potential and I liked the message that Danielle Steel was trying to convey, but it just didn’t come across that well in my eyes. Brothers and sisters Lyle, Gloria, Benjie, Annabelle. and twins Caroline and Charlie, are all at different stages of life personally and professionally. I was captured by the way they faced their individual situations while dealing with moving forward as a united family in the midst of anguish. I appreciated this touching and emotional look at family dynamics, grief, and sibling bonds written in Steel's special style.Now the children must come together and be there for each other while dealing with their own personal demons.
