Having greatly enjoyed the three singles so far, I must admit to approaching with some trepidation - but am happy to report that these three are by no means the only great tracks here, and not even the best. There's nothing terribly complicated about the Fratellis' debut album, Costello Music , but that's by no means a criticism.

Five songs were released as singles; " Henrietta", " Chelsea Dagger", " Whistle for the Choir", " Baby Fratelli" and " Ole Black 'n' Blue Eyes". Witch you will find very hard , as they are all so fantastic the lyrics are so catchyand so well mixed to the musicBeing a new band or group to me.It was released on 11 September 2006 on Fallout Records and Drop the Gun Recordings and on 13 March 2007 on Cherrytree Records in the US [1] and was a success, peaking at number 2 on the UK Albums Chart and spent 83 weeks in the Top 100. And, in the pantheon of iPod pitchmen bands, will the Fratellis be the next Jet or just the next Caesars? Chelsea Dagger" was the most successful single, peaking at five in the UK and four in the Netherlands.

Costello Music tears along with the energy and cheekiness of early Supergrass, vocals that are part-Bolan part-Doherty and a unpretentious love of all things pop. The band toured the record internationally, playing shows in Europe, the United States and Japan, and won the 2007 BRIT Award for Best British Breakthrough Act. But the Fratellis are a decent singles band working overtime here-- though no song breaks the four-minute mark, there's still 13 of them to wade through, and most are beholden to a predictable pattern of hop-along verse and overexcited amped-up chorus, while the attempts to toughen up their eager-to-please power-pop with bluesy prowls ("Doginabag") and hoarse-throat punky aggression ("Got Ma Nuts From a Hippy") are far less engaging.Use of this site constitutes acceptance of our User Agreement and Privacy Policy and Cookie Statement and Your California Privacy Rights. Sal Cinquemani of Slant Magazine said that "they sound like songs by about 15 other Britpop acts" but went on to say "it's one thing to copy a look, a sound, or a formula, it's another to do it so utterly convincingly and with such infectious raucousness". Critics likened the album to the works of The Libertines, Babyshambles and Arctic Monkeys, all bands known for their British rock roots.

Costello Music's passable hit/miss ratio isn't enough to suggest the Fratellis can usurp the Monkeys or, heck, even the View as Britain's consummate people's band, but for about 12 minutes here they corner an oversaturated market for good-time, no-worries, low-calorie rock'n'roll meant to be blasted in cramped, smoky environments where people still play darts. But in a sense that would be to devalue The Fratellis as one of a crowd, where in fact they are offering something quite different from anything else out there today - and for that reason one of the Most Important bands around.

Aber nachdem ich den Titel durch Zufall mitbekommen und dann auch auf YT gefunden habe, habe ich weitere Lieder von der Band gesucht und was soll ich sagen - einfach genial Mucke. Ole Black `n' Blue Eyes" is arguably the best offering here, and revisits Chelsea (who herself gets a nod in the sleeve notes).
