Children could then play missing number games by removing a card from the line and try reciting numbers forwards and backwards along the number line. Slightly older children will appreciate this because at school different teachers require different things. I didn't care for it because I worried that some kid hearing it would try to act it out and make some poor cat very sick. Lastly, my godson, the main person to whom I was reading, didn't seem to be particularly interested in the book. But Sid works hard for his supper; he's a different cat for each of the residents whether he's hunting mice or playing ball each owner wants something different from him.

Younger children with blended houses living in separate houses will also get it — the idea that different situations and people require different versions of yourself. They get mad, so Sid moves to a different street, where everyone knows his game, and the last line of the book reads, ".Sid retains most of his catness, which means he is disloyal, opportunistic, but doesn’t ‘scheme’, as such. And in Six Dinner Sid she demonstrates her ability to create slightly caricatured, comical characters as well as beautiful landscapes and buildings. I did feel a bit sorry for the residents of the former street and cheered for the second group of people. We knew Pippa had not been seen for a few days, but food was going, and Katie presumably wasn’t eating all of it.Other picture books that she has both written and illustrated include A House in the Woods (2011) and Captain Cat (2013).

Inga Moore is one of my favourite illustrators, and her work is particularly suited to stories such as The Wind In The Willows and The Secret Garden. I particularly liked Sid's expressions of pleasure, as his six owners pet and scratch him; and his disgruntlement, as he is given six doses of medicine.Fortunately for Sid, he quickly devised a new plan and was able to resume his comfortable, previous lifestyle. The plot of the cat who goes from house to house pretending to be anyone’s will be familiar to anyone who’s ever known a cat.
