After the second world war, the cappuccino was streamlined. Improved technology meant pulling a delicious espresso became easier, so the need for additional sweeteners was reduced.

It’s a layered drink where the espresso is poured through the milk with the milk foam added on top. The drink is supposed to be enjoyed as a layered drink with a little coffee, milk and frothed milk in your mouth at the same time. It is not supposed to be stirred.

A cappuccino is a stronger tasting coffee due to the 1:1 ratio of espresso to milk while a latte has an espresso to milk ratio of 1:2 making it a lighter tasting coffee that is milkier and creamier, richer and heavier mouthfeel.
