It’s been over two centuries since Pride and Prejudice were published – and it still remains not only one of the most widely prescribed novels of academic curriculums but also one of the reader’s favorites. This one has made it onto my list of All Time Favorite novels and is truly one of the classics that lives up to its billing. Darcy joined that party as soon as he showed up in the narrative as I thought he was terrific as well.

Charles Bingley, a wealthy and affable young man who rents the adjoining Netherfield Park, shows up at the start of the narrative. But it is impossible not share one’s opinions after reading this: this book, for me, is as best as it could get. Jane is the beautiful one, Mary is the look-at-me-I'm-so-pious one, Lydia is the I'm-so-dumb-that-I'm-probably-going-to-get-murdered one and Kitty is the well-she's-just-kinda-there one. But after this second read, I decided to watch the 2005 movie, the 1995 TV series and the 1980 series, and couldn’t resist sharing some of my thoughts. You never feel for once that it is a new character- these are people we have met, known, and probably understood.

She finds him arrogant, conceited, and indifferent, disliking him even more when she discovers he has interfered in the relationship between his friend Bingley and Elizabeth's older sister Jane. The daughters are under pressure because of this to find good husbands and protect their financial futures. Pride and Prejudice” remains relevant in today’s age because it explores universal themes that are still applicable to our lives.

Overall, “Pride and Prejudice” is a novel that challenges the traditional gender roles of 19th century England and advocates for greater freedom and respect for women. A lady's imagination is very rapid; it jumps from admiration to love, from love to matrimony in a moment. There’s quite a smorgasbord of textual commentary to pick through, and you’re sure to find little tidbits that strike you as especially resonant or horrendously wrong and weird. The perfection of this novel is amazing and until today it´s difficult to impossible to name another book that has the same character development, hidden social critique, and amazing characters in a classical setting dealing with the grievances of an epoch.

I did really enjoy this book, and I have given it five stars, but it’s not as good as her other works. This leads him to make hasty judgements about her and her family, causing him to be rude and dismissive of her when they first meet.
