HDMI 2.1 and gaming features On the HDR front, the OLED806 has pretty much the full house, with HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision all supported. HDR10+ Adaptive is on board, too, allowing the TV to automatically adjust HDR10+ content to ambient lighting conditions, and while Dolby Vision IQ isn’t officially supported, Philips says the combination of standard Dolby Vision and its AI-powered light sensor effectively does the same thing. The 43- to 65-inch models get a T-bar stand for support, with the sizes up to 58-inches getting swivel action. The biggest models in the range switch to feet at either side that can adjusted to narrow or wide configurations. A strong wireless connection is just as important for streaming content and the TV takes advantage of the industry-leading Wi-Fi 802.11ac, which has a theoretical maximum speed of more than 1,300 Mbps – a LOT more than home Wi-Fi networks can achieve, but important to note nonetheless. It’s the first Wi-Fi standard developed that can achieve gigabit speeds, so think of it like the Bugatti of Wi-Fi. Bluetooth 5.0 is included as well.While it doesn't offer the self-emitting pixels of OLEDor Micro LED panels, it should help LCD televisions continue to compete in the TV space, for those without the cash or desire for more premium technologies. You'll find Mini LED tech in both LG's new QNEDrange and the higher-end new Samsung TVscoming out this year too. And in the meantime, the unusual combination of Android TV and Freeview Play makes the OLED806 less of an exercise in frustration than it otherwise would have been. Like many of the best OLED TVs on the market today, the Philips Ambilight 65OLED706 OLED is a great gaming television that offers 4K@120hz gaming with an automatic variable refresh rate. Of course, if you’re a competitive gamer we only recommend playing on a gaming monitor (typically less than 1ms) as the input delay on most OLED televisions is more than 10ms.
