Hot pressed paper has the least textured surface, having been pressed between hot metal rollers during production. Hot pressed paper is favoured by those who like to work delicately with a lot of detail, such as botanical artists. Hot pressed paper tends to be the least absorbent of all of the textures, and watery washes can sit on the surface for a long time. Beyond watercolour painting, hot pressed watercolour paper makes an excellent support for detailed pen, ink and graphite drawing. Foam board – A sandwich of foam laminated by two sheets of board makes a rigid sheet suitable for model making and mounting projects. Probably the biggest issue that artists face while working with markers is that the marker ink used in the alcohol-based markers is a really thin liquid that is bleeding through the paper very easily.It is important to make sure the place you put the paper is smooth. It is sufficient to use glass, ceramic, metal, flattened wood, and other surfaces. Goatskin and sheepskin were employed by early artists for their drawings. Tracing, calligraphy, and drafting were all done on vellum drawing paper made from these translucent parchments. Without the smoothness of the marker strokes, you are going to end up with obvious start and stop points within your work. The full coloured areas will not be a smooth complete fill.
