Due to it’s 12V power system (the reason night footage is so good), night time videos are limited to 20 seconds per clip. The “light baffle” for the PIR sensor on the BTC-7E-HP4 has two “blinders” on either side which seriously limit the field of view of the sensor. Detection varies (as with all cameras with a PIR sensor) based on batteries, settings, positioning and temperature but you can expect up to 90ft for a human-sized animal or deer etc. I do a fair amount of “nature” photography, at at the end of the day I have a folder with several hundred shots. That is why we would like to refer to their reviews to give you a comparable overview of the quality of the various cameratraps.

Hence cannot award 5 stars at present although it's a close thing as I am very pleased I chose this Camara.

In addition to many other features we have come to expect from Browning trail cameras, this 4K Browning has a motion detection range which you can optionally adjust from 55 - 80 ft and when combined with three adjustable (Low Glow) Infrared modes can provide you with the optimum night vision image control.

When turned on, you’re presented with an overview screen showing a view of what the camera can currently see and what it is set to take. I sometimes cover a location with two trail cameras and set the second camera to Capture Timer for daylight only videos. You can use this to find the right distances or angles and it can help with setting up the Recon Force Elite HP4 in the best place possible. Inside the BTC-7E-HP4, the image sensor is mounted to a separate “daughter card” which attaches to the main PCB by a short flex cable. The Recon Force Elite HP4 is designed around this – it has the latest iCatch processor to allow for crisper videos, day and night, than ever before.

Less power means less heat overall which could reduce the chances that heat from the processor unintentionally triggers the PIR sensor (see: “Run On Triggering” in How (some) Trail Cameras Fail).
