Now that I’ve covered why the Mad Spotter Hooks exist, let me briefly explain how they work (not that they’re overly complicated or anything). The hooks have an elongated “S” shape to them. The larger, rubber coated portion of the “S” hooks over a barbell positioned above the user. The remaining, smaller portion basically acts as a “cradle” for a dumbbell handle to rest in. Although the “cradle” design is different depending on which version of the Mad Spotter Hooks you have (more on that later), the basic function remains the same. Take your Dumbbells and wrap the Velcro Wraps provided around the handle of the Dumbbells ONLY! This prevents your dumbbells from getting scratched when placed on to the Hooks ( avoiding metal on metal).

Seated shoulder press: With the bar behind you, it creates a blind spot. Best done standing up and facing the bar. Put simply, the VersaSpot Dumbbell Spotter System allows you to lift heavier and safer with dumbbells. What We Like About VersaSpot Overall, we really like the VersaSpot Spotter System. However, we would only suggest it to those that do quite a bit of dumbbell benching. This type of equipment easily ends up in the corner never being used, so make sure that you’re someone who could benefit from using a dumbbell spotter system, otherwise spend the money elsewhere. What We Don’t Like About VersaSpotWe’ve loaded 150 LB dumbbells on the VersaSpot and it didn’t budge. It has a 250 LB dumbbell limit per saddle, however, I would personally trust it with much more (although I’ll never need it.) After a lot of research, the ones I found are way expensive and take up more space than the Mad Spotters. UPDATE [8 Feb. 2023]: After recently purchasing "Mad Spotter" Dumbbell Hooks, I have now briefly tested them out - My REVIEW can be read here! If you’re using dumbbells in the traditional manner, you start the first rep from the bottom if they’re heavy enough, and no way to spot the lift at the top or bottom of the lift.

Both allow loading the DBs while hanging (still can't load one side a lot more than the other with either). So Spot Grips provide some advantages overall but cost A LOT more - they are also at home in a commercial gym setting in a way power hooks never will be. I still use my power hooks too, even for muscle rounds at times but would definitely prefer the Spot grips could I choose one or the other. To do this, you can ask training partners or anyone at the gym to spot you and lift the dumbbells into place for you to start your pressing ( shoulder or chest dumbbell exercises). However, you might train by yourself all the time and you may also be introverted and not wish to ask others for help. You may also just train by yourself at home in your own personal "Home Gym" (Respect!). So what's the solution? So the Nuobell dumbbells are not compatible with the Mad Spotter.
