This sugar alcohol makes the soap viscous. It is also a humectant that helps the skin retain moisture. This gives the skin a smooth, silky feel. Glycol ethers can affect fetal development as well. Pears also contains BHT (Butylated HydroxyToluene). This compound is used as an antioxidant. It prevents spoilage of the soap and prolongs shelf life. The latest 2009 modification mainly breaks down to an addition of artificial colouring and substances whose hypothetical function is either as detergents (i.e., cleaning substances) or stabilisers (i.e., product longevity enhancers). However, even the pre-2009 formula was a far cry from the original one.
