It was based around a white working class couple trying to come to terms with a black couple that had moved in next door. Not really the "complete" collection as there were 8 seasons made but this DVD set only has 7 seasons.

Also, like Love Thy Neighbour, it has the black character of that show, Philip, played by Don Warrington, running circles around Rigsby, being far more educated, intelligent and sophisticated than Rigsby ever could. Simply this IS racist but it's reputation is constantly wheeled out by the do-gooders completely out of context. DVD transfer quality is excellent despite the age of the content, so top marks for the team that did the remastering. So, these comedies, in my view, aren't "racist", but rather portray ignorant white characters who are gotten the better of because of their racism and ignorance. Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive.

Contrary to what some people may think, Love Thy Neighbour actually sees Eddie Booth's character being bested by a far smarter, level headed and sensible black neighbour, Bill Reynolds, played by the superb Rudolph Walker. Personalised advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of information under California and other state privacy laws, and you may have a right to opt out. Highly popular and more than a little controversial Love Thy Neighbour consistently appeared in the top three programmes of the week throughout the majority of its eight series run even its repeats reached the top of the charts!The embarrassingly racist comments of the day on both sides were hilariously near the knuckle in those days and aren't spoken these days This wonderfully wicked set of clichés brings back fond memories of its protagonists and is a delight to own, even if it is just to embarrass my grandchildren!

I am happy to report that Love Thy Neighbour is every bit as good, if not better, than I remembered. I'd only seen a few episodes, but when I saw it available on DVD and including all eight series along with the movie, I just had to get it. Its comic spin on racism, politics and general childish antagonism was loved by millions and remains a firm favourite to this day. So refreshing to watch a comedy from my childhood, without the crude rude swearing and disgusting jokes of nowadays, without gratuitous sex or violence.If you look at another TV show of that period, Rising Damp, it also portrays Leonard Rosseter's character, Mr Rigsby, as ignorant more than racist. Eddie Booth (Jack Smethurst), a white, working-class socialist is dismayed when Bill (Rudolph Walker), a black, educated Conservative moves in next door with his wife Barbie (Nina Baden-Semper).
