Seraphon are very character-heavy with their synergies and rely especially on their Slann- many of the army’s key abilities, especially if you’re playing Starborne rely on them. If you lose any of your heroes, you’ll find many of your key units will suffer. Saurus can either be summoned or fielded from the beginning to protect wizards in a Starborne army, or be the core of a Coalesced one thanks to their improved defence and bite rolls that contributes to the splash mortal wounds game the Seraphon play.

At the top of the Seraphon society there are the Slann, bloated toad-like creatures gifted with incredible magic powers. The most revered of them is actually being dead long before the end of the world and the creation of the Mortal Realms: Lord Kroak. His spirit is so powerful that is still lingering around his mummified body and is able to communicate telepathically and send showers of meteors against his opponents. For Matched Play, these sprues provide enough parts to assemble a 10-model unit of Saurus Warriors with full command. Two Saurus Warriors will be left over. If you make the Saurus Guard conversion, you can assemble two 5-model units of Saurus Guard with full commands, or one 10-model unit of Saurus Guard with full command. Two Saurus "Guard" will be left over. When dispelling, he straight up covers all battlefield without using proxies. I converted Kroak by expanding out his throne, mainly using parts from the Silent King kit. Like my other slann, I made Kroak so that he could be mounted on my converted Realmshaper Engine , making him quite the centrepiece for my army.The Engine of the Godslost both the Hero/Leader role and priesthood, to be replaced with a slot machine game: you choose one of its abilities and roll 2D6. One of the nice things about Militarum Tempestus being 4 units in 3 kits is that you get all of them right here in this box. Like the generic Militarum set this comes with the plastic Commissar (a bit like Tech-priests Dominus in Ad Mech, if you have any interest in buying Tempestus at all you will end up drowning in these guys), but also two squads of Scions and a Taurox. Squads of Scions and Tauroxes are pretty much all there is to have for the Tempestus, and the Scion kit is a dual one which lets you build the Tempestor Prime and a Command Squad too, and is full of cool bits. If you want to get some Scions on the table there’s basically no better way to do it than this – turn the Commissars into terrain statues or convert them into other things. Starborne have their own list of enhancements, starting from command traits divided between Slann exclusives and Skink exclusives. Slann have access to a good list with Lord of Celestial Resonance giving double cosmic points from the general when casting, dispelling, etc. Skinks (but why would you have a Skink general??) wizards can have access to their entire lore with Master of Star-rituals. As an army, you have two aspects of the Seraphon to choose from: The Starborne, representing the Seraphon in their more ‘alien’ aspect aboard their starships are capable of teleporting units in from space, and the Coalesced representing the Seraphon in their more ‘primal’ state in the realms, where you tap more heavily into brute primal force, and the various monstrous dinosaurs at their disposal- that’s right, I did say dinosaurs. The Seraphon’s most unique aspect, and likely the reason you’re interested in them, is the fact that they’re all dinosaurs from space.

At the top of military caste there are the Saurus commanders. The most important of them are the Saurus Oldblood and what’s mightier than riding a Carnosaur? This model has actually 3 different assembly options, including the next warscroll and the Oracle on Troglodon. If you are still keen to field a Saurus army, this is a good starting point and you may need 2 boxes (allowing you to have 2 different behemoths, 3 units of 5 Saurus Knights and a unit of 20 Saurus Warriors) but no more than 2. This is subject to change with a new battletome (which they are likely to get) but as it stands this box does not represent a good starting point despite the good discount price and the beautiful Carnosaur model. For 5 points you can resurrect D3 models to any unit with a wound characteristic of 1 or 2 and wholly within 12″ of a cosmic node.

The Spawn of Chotec is not as scary as was one of the past iterations of the Salamander warscroll, but is still an artillery piece that can literally bite in melee, so it can be used in various ways, including redeploying for free in a Fang of Sotek army as it has the Skink keyword.

They will do anything to achieve that end, resulting in a cold, predatory ruthlessness that regularly results in conflict with their own Sigmarite allies as often as it does the forces of Chaos.This box is coming with a pretty good base for building a Seraphon army. With that said, if you’re starting from scratch, you’ll probably want to buy at least two, maybe three of these honestly. When I use the phrase "full command," it refers to having three models in a unit representing a single leader (Alpha), standard-bearer (Stardrake Icon), and musician (Wardrums). This terminology comes from Warhammer Fantasy Battle.
