have been using the Jico version for about a month and while it doesn't hold the vinyl as well as the Shure for mixing/scratching, and there's a bit too much low end, other than that the sound it good overall it's a solid substitute. in summary, dont bother with the cheaper Tonar - Jico models are an excellent alternative to the Shure originals It does sound awfully quiet compared to https://soundcloud.com/user-660295751 these recordings for e.g. .... what'u guys think? Do you happen to know whether cantilever modifications are required when switching between Shure and Jico? In addition, the output voltage is 9.5 V if I'm not mistaken, and you can see the difference with gains.

My preconception was that the M44-7 would produce an inflated bass in comparison with the others, but that is not the case. I think it may be due to to the smaller cantilever of the M75 and V15III, which can trace complex stereo grooves better. The M44, and come to that the M3 and M33 series, are much better at mono, shellac and very good with 45rpm singles. But the Shure M75C is really good with 45s as well.

The M31 and M32 and the Pacific M73PE shown here, shared the M44/55/V15I body, but in a different housing. I cut away the front of the left one to fit an N44-7 stylus.
