The game play itself, while fun, can also feel a bit restrictive at times, especially with some of the less exciting rounds you will be forced to take. The Bloody Inn offers to let you play a short game or a long game and I almost wish there was something in the middle. The short game definitely feels too short, I’d only recommend that for a learning game. However, the long game starts to drag near the end of its play, especially if a player is clearly in the lead. I think something in between would definitely hit the sweet spot for play time. Generally, hidden role games can take a few hours to play. However, One Night Ultimate Werewolf only takes 10 minutes! Allowing for fast fun, enough time for multiple games, and no two games are ever the same! To profit from murder, you must first dispose of the body. You can bury corpses under any of the inn's annexes. Players control the annexes they build. If you use one belonging to another player you'll have to split the profits with them. It's better to deal with the richest guests in areas you control. But you can always undermine your opponents by stuffing their constructions full of low value victims!

Everyone has skeletons in the closet. But you have them in the barn, the vegetable garden, and the butcher shop too. Well, you can't just leave them lying around for anyone to find! Growing a business means expansion and diversification. Parlors, parks and gardens, distilleries, and workshops will all amplify the attraction of your inn. Each new annex delivers a competitive advantage. Not to mention a few more places to conceal a corpse or two! Sheriff of Nottingham is a hand management card game; however, it is more suitably categorised as social interaction game. Negotiation and bluffing amongst players are assured with any game of Sheriff. Plenty of laughs are guaranteed, even role-playing is encouraged. The Bloody Inn can be played with up to four players, ideal for a smaller group of friends. What better place is there to conspire against the guests of your establishment than amongst them in your local pub? When it comes to the engine building aspect of the game, it’s definitely on the slower side of the bell curve. With those limited rounds, it will take you quite a few rounds to acquire the annexes you want to build and the people to build them. It’s got almost a slow burn feel to it where you can see the game ramping up, but it takes a while to get there.Play on the table as many Guest cards from your hand as the rank of the Traveler you just chose (e.g. 0 cards for a rank-0 Traveler; 3 cards for a rank-3 Traveler).

Finally, when it comes to player scaling, The Bloody Inn plays well with any of its player count. I do think the game plays best with four players though. Not only does it have more cards coming into the game, but since you can bury your corpses under any players annex, it allows you to spread out the wealth a little bit. In a 2 player game, I never wanted to bury under my opponent’s annex because it’s giving both of us money. Final Thoughts: Even if you kill a guest, you are not allowed to rob them until they get a proper burial. We’re civilized people after all… Whether or not their plan will work out, one thing is certain: Not every guest will leave this inn alive. Gameplay The Bloody Inn is an economic and hand management card game for 2-4 players that takes about 45 minutes to play. In our experience, The Bloody Inn plays best with 4 players. Game Overview: Launder money and bribe your guests into becoming your shady accomplices. If your plan doesn’t go well, you may end up murdering your guests, but don’t forget to bury the bodies! And be careful to not arouse the attention of the police. Place the Guest card in front of you on the table, with its Dead Guest side visible; this now becomes a corpse. There is no limit to the number of corpses you can have in front of you, but watch out for the police!Each player places a Key token of his color on an unclaimed room of his choice (the position of the room makes no difference, so just choose a room close to you). The Bloody Inn is played over a series of rounds where each player gets two actions. The actions include: bribing people, building annexes, killing travelers, or burying corpses. All this is done with the goal of stealing the most money from the victims. A family of greedy rural farmers is determined to make its fortune and has devised a diabolical stratagem to achieve this goal: Invest in an inn so they can rob traveling guests, getting rich without arousing the suspicions of the police!

On the other hand, these super limited rounds do make some rounds much less exciting than others. There will be rounds where you basically spend your turn drawing cards for future rounds. Other times, you will spend your turn converting money. This can give the game some extreme highs and lows, with some rounds being exciting and then some being really dull. The players will take one Key token and place it on a room that is unclaimed. The player who is the greediest will take the Starter Player token, and the game is ready to begin! GAMEPLAY Example: In a 3-player game, Anna is responsible for greeting the travelers because she is the first player. The main thing that drew me to The Bloody Inn, other than the unique theme, was the outstanding artwork. The dark and creative style really drew me in and felt like it fit the theme of the game perfectly. Each card is colorfully illustrated with a picture of the guest, and also contains any relevant game information.The end of the round is divided into 3 steps: police investigation, travelers leave, and pay wages. Place the Traveler card chosen in front of you on the table, with its Living side visible; this now becomes an annex. There is no limit to the number of annexes you can have in front of you, and you can have several copies of the same annex. Finally, each card still in a player’s hand costs them 1 Franc per card they wish to retain for the next round. The Bloody Inn is a card game in which you play one member of a family of greedy, murderous innkeepers. Build an annex: Choose a card in your hand. Play it in front of you, discarding a number of other cards equal to its rank. Any cards discarded with the shovel icon are returned to your hand. Once an annex is built, it will give you a special ability for the rest of the game and also allow you to bury corpses underneath it. France 1831: In a remote corner of Ardèche, the little village of Peyrebeille sees numerous travelers pass through. Module 1: The Carnies — The carnies are a new type of guest. This module can be played with or without the event cards. Before the start of the game, decide whether you want to include the event cards. At the end of the round (phase 3), before the police investigation step, if at least one carnie occupies a room of the inn (or a trailer), you must resolve the event card this round.
