I can see why it is studied in schools as the plot would grip teenagers but there doesn’t seem to be enough overall content to justify weeks of study. It's one of those dreadful plays written about teenagers, for teenagers which has a glaringly obvious moral. DNA’ by Dennis Kelly is an intriguing story whose plot revolves around the complexities of persistent social interactions.

I am a scientist with a love for fiction, and I’m very intrigued by and like to explore the intersections of science with the rest of the world— art, fiction, race, religion, life, and death. The author does an excellent job at describing the concept to kids (and to adults, if you are like me, because let’s face it, DNA science is complicated! While I found all the characters incredibly interesting and deep, it was hard not to get a really erie feeling from the play’s dark tone. Although Phil does not overtly attempt to force Leah’s conformity, he is still able to have an influence on her. However, we must bear in mind that we are being told their version of events where they are trying to convince themselves and the rest of the group that he is in fact laughing/ enjoying the things being done to him.I was crushed after taking a DNA test to learn that the man who raised me was not my biological father.
