I'm also glad that the author didn't decide to rush Auren into leaving Midas (though I was pretty much mad early on of her blind loyalty). Because when she finally opened her eyes, it felt so much impactful and you felt her slow descend towards hatred against him. I want to start this by saying I LOVE LOVE LOVE the plated prisoner series Raven Kennedy is one of the best writers on booktok/ bookstagram. Bright side? At least I’m alive. At least I got away from the Red Raids. I won’t be subjected to whatever Quarter wanted to do with me once he discovered his captain was missing.

Book 3 of this adult fantasy series continues in this epic story inspired by the myth of King Midas, fae, fated romance, and insurmountable greed.What I've enjoyed so far about this series is how it's a metaphor about real, emotional issues Day Leitao, author of Kingdom of Curses and Shadows Series A bit better than the first book, because Auren is not in the palace anymore, there are other interesting side characters, less Midas and more Commander Rip, but Auren was still too annoying for me to really enjoy it. But the end made me feel invested so let's hope Gleam is not a letdown. 🤞

What happened in the end made me kind of mad but not at Slade. It’s more at the circumstances. The fact that everything is gonna go to shit in the next book because of all the loose ends makes me mad. For ten years, I’ve lived in a gilded cage inside King Midas’s golden castle. But one night changed everything. Auren is trapped in a cage once more by Midas, and she is alone in an unfamiliar place with no one to rescue her. Except for one man, King Slade, whom Auren finds far too attractive.

Gleam” is the third book in the “The Plated Prisoner” series, and it continues the story of Auren and her determination to take revenge on King Midas. physically I cannot talk about the ending bc I will get up and start pacing my house again and my animals are already worried about me. Also please no more Queen Malina chapters!! I know they are there to drive the political plot and see what the other parties are up to, but istg I was bored to tears that I wanted to k*ll myself while reading those chapters so I'm begging Raven Kennedy no more 😭 My mind can't handle being in King Midas and Queen Malina's POV.. that's too much negativ energy at once. I skipped Book 1 because the H isn't there. It's mostly about the h's dark past. A lot of readers didn't enjoy Book 1 so it's up to you if you want to start with Book 2 too. You get to see through his actions to what extent he would go for Auren and how deeply he loves her because if you questioned how much Slade loves Auren, this book will prove to you just how much.

To add salt into the wound, expect some heart-wrenching scenes. There were moments I was on the verge of tears. ARMENTROUT I am struggling to review this book because I absolutely love this series, this world, these characters, and Ravens writing BUT this book felt very filler-y and very slow paced for book 5 in a series. I feel as if there was very little development in regards to plot and character and this could have been cut in half with the same outcome The way King Ravinger acts and just is in almost every single scene in here had my heart melt over and over again. Almost any single time Auren and King Ravinger are in the same room my heart can't handle it lol.

And trust in this book, she goes feral and we love her; but SLADE stole the show (Are we surprised) An astonishing world with captivating characters and a story you won't be able to put down' Ivy Asher, author of The Osseous Chronicles and The Lost Sentinel Series I truly believe Auren's story resonates with many people whom were victims of manipulation and they mistook those manipulative actions for love. Her growth and realization towards the end that everything she had endured was because of a false love was so powerful yet heart wrenching.
