We have tested the stroller with the youngest Ferdinand (2 years old); then with Felix (4 years old, 16 kg) and finally, the oldest Florian tried it out as well (5 and half years old, and weighing over 20 kg - close to the maximum weight capacity of the Atom, which is 25 kg). I feel like we can connect more and explore the world together instead of the constant walking around to the front of the which I had to do with our last pushchair. Once the child is big enough to reach the button and activate the locking system, there is a chance it will do it randomly during a ride as an amusement. I see a lot of people giving positive feedback about the quality of this stroller but honestly I don’t share this opinion considering some of the competitors.Thanks to the integrated safety net in the base of the seat, even the smallest children will be safe and enclosed, if needed.

The seat unit is not the biggest one - with the measurements of the seat being: a backrest length of 42 cm, depth of 20 cm, and a leg rest length of 12. Even if the Atom stroller features the possibility to recline fully, little Dino preferred the half-sitting position more, also when sleeping. and the Maclaren Atom (read full review here is a travel-first, occasional-use ultra-compact ( read more about ultracompacts and what they are and aren't good for in this article).

Thanks to its minimalist dimensions, the Atom is a great companion for travels and trips and can be taken on the board of the aircraft as cabin luggage. I just love how much closer to Theodore I feel with this stroller compared to his original pram/pushchair. The wheels are small but have all-round suspension and - cue more brownie points from busy parents - the seat is removable and machine washable. Also the seat straps are a bit difficult to use and you can’t only use the bottom straps because they are connected. The locking system located above the front wheels is a mixture of one of the biggest advantages and also an important disadvantage of the Atom.

The automatic safety lock, which prevents the stroller from unfolding by itself, also needs to be tended to.We are off to Thailand soon and the thought of loosing the pushchair or it being damaged at the airport gives me nightmares!
