Come 2023 and here is the first digital album of 25 new mixes, released today, Friday March 3, 2023. A second volume has already been completed, and isn't it just a joy to hear those voices! Okay, so Brenda Holloway's "When I'm Gone" was my first ability to recognize the Motown Sound upon the first hearing without any help. Earl Van Dyke & The Soul Brothers - I Can't Help Myself [[Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch) [[Single Version) United Souls, in conjunction with Legacy Recordings, is delighted to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Philadelphia International Records with Love Is The Message - The Sound of Philadelphia International Records Volume 3. Following on from the huge acclaim for the first two volumes, Love Is The Message contains eight albums on CD and an exclusive 12” vinyl disc.

The only thing that makes me sad is that as Motown/Universal has all but stopped their reissue program [whatever happened to The Supremes Expanded Edition series after "Sing HDH"...?], something like this gets green-lighted by another company and will hopefully sell very well. By March 1965, in addition to the above titles, I had managed to add Martha & The Vandellas' "Wild One" 45 and The Temptations' "Sing Smokey" album to my burgeoning Motown record collection. By now, I had come to recognize the various elements of Motown's style. I was soon put to the test! Eddie Holland wrote about the car accident in his book. I believe it took place in early 1967 in Florida, but I could have the details wrong. I think the accident ended up messing up the recording schedule. I'd have to re-read the book. I can't remember the exact details beyond Flo and Diana being in a car accident and having to be hospitalized and I'm almost certain it was 1967.A member of staff poured water but did not greet us. I was surprised that the woman who filled our water glasses and left without a word turned up 10 minutes later and introduced herself as our server. We had questions about the menu/drinks but had nobody to ask. How long was Betty actually in the group? From 1959 to 1960? I can't imagine there was a lot of action in those early years; probably a handful of "performances", at best. I could go on, there were about a dozen things that disappointed me about an otherwise amazing meal. But crummy service is exhausting and so is writing a negative review. In Detroit, the beloved flavors of soul food were brought to the city mainly during the Great Migration of the 1940s and 50s when hundreds of thousands of Detroiters immigrated from the deep south in search of a better life. Many of these Detroiters would go on to start businesses selling their unique family recipes creating a legacy of delicious soul food restaurants in the city.

By Autumn 1964, the new "Motown Sound" was on fire as one hit after another simultaneously burned its way up the charts while boasting a HOT new style! Mary Wells' "My Guy", The Supremes' "Where Did Our Love Go", "Baby Love", and "Come See About Me," Martha & The Vandellas' "Dancing In The Street", Four Tops' "Baby I Need Your Loving" and "Without The One You Love", and The Marvelettes' "Too Many Fish In The Sea" paved the way for an exciting new phenomenon that would soon set new standards for Pop & Soul music globally! There has to be a lot to write about them as well. Flo is gone. Barbara is gone. Mary is gone. Cindy is incapacitated. Diana my very well be unwilling to participate, same with Jean. Lamont Dozier is gone. Harvey Fuqua is gone. History lives and dies with these people. Time is of the essence, even for some of the family that was around at the time. I don't remember how I got there, as I was only 14 and not driving yet, but I somehow managed to wangle a ride from my parents to Cass record store in Geneva, NY, to buy that record. The coolest part of that trip was discovering that I was right! My new must-have record was on the Tamla label -- indeed, the Motown Sound! After that, it became increasingly easy to recognize Motown's releases -- even when the artist was new and vocally unfamiliar.

But then, I'm doing this on a laptop, so I can use multi-screens, and listen to the music while also being on SDF. As stated in another review, I was told about this restaurant by the rental car shuttle bus driver at DTW.

A complete transformation in sound. A lush, sweeping, melodic Philly style of production. The string sounds now mirror and further emphasise the vocals. Far more sparkle and cool, elegant pizzazz. I have always felt there to be a very great wealth of unfulfilled potential in Motorcity, so it is good to be discussing it here at this time. It may even cause some to revise their initial opinion, and now hear something that, before, they did not. There was an interview with Cal of the Primes that I ran across a gajillion years ago where someone got him on record talking about the early Primettes days. The only thing I can recall is that he was quite fond of Florence and I think he said they had a thing for a minute.

Of particular interest to Motown fans are the previously unreleased songs and mixes included on Discs 21 and 22 such as "My Eyes Adored You" recorded whilst with Motown. "Stop, Look, Listen to Your Heart" is the Stylistics song and I believe will surpass the version by Diana and Marvin. With food set up buffet style behind steamy glass, Motor City Soul Food is a Detroit favorite. The Seven Mile location is the original and some say the best tasting. The macaroni and cheese here is some of the best in the city. Try the baked turkey breast and candied yams too. Me & My Girls Soul Food

The Coco bread was a huge, soft, yeasty bun that was delightful to eat. It was slightly sweet, but I enjoyed its soft and spongy texture. My question is this, and apologies if it sounds rather basic. I know that SRGS issued two albums – “Hungry For Love” and “Swing”, however, I have come across three other albums not mentioned on DFMC which were issued on the Marble Arch label in the UK: This restaurant is also a nightspot with events several times a week. Nested in the heart Detroit’s eastside, Southern Fire Bistro and Lounge has become staple for upscale dining and parties and has a strict dress code which they describe as "no effort, no entry." Southern Fire Bistro and Lounge recently completed a fresh overhaul. The redesign features ambient lighting, lovely padded seats, and updated modern décor to set the mood for any intimate dinner or party. Flood's Bar & Grille Two Way Street' album, but which was unreleased by the time the Motorcity label folded in 1992. Had been scheduled for release as single MOTC 119. There was also an edited version [3.26], which was likely the version scheduled for Hot Records 'Best Of Motorcity Vol. 44' - but which also went unreleased. I cannot immediately locate a copy of the original version here, if one did become available on disc at a later date, or a currently available digital version. That said, the title seems to have been released this year by Achievement Records on 7" vinyl. Cannot confirm which version, although the version featured here on the album does seem most likely'] Unfortunately, there does not appear to be much scholarly interest in the story of the Supremes, which is obviously not the case for the Beatles or Elvis, both of which not only have tons of books devoted to their history, but also documentaries. Race and gender are factors, as is music snobbery, where singer/songwriters are viewed more favorably than interpreters of song. And then there's the petty infighting and feuding, which honestly got more headlines in the 80s thru the present rather than their timeless music.
