Even though we dropped the wizard voices about halfway through it was fun to try different voices and read the spells. This game is great, I laughed hard reading the background in the first two pages of the instructions, as well as reading and seeing the cards! I simply want to say if wrapping your bad impulses in “magic” sounds attractive, EPIC SPELL WARS may be right for you! That’s right, buddy—you got XTREME Nacho Chip Tokens to collect and these bad boys are gonna let you get LEGENDARY cards from a heaping stack of TOTALLY messed up powerful Spells, Locations, Creatures, Wizards, and artifacts!

Overall, the components for Spell Wars hover between good and great, but the terrific theming really pushes things over the top, resulting in a Style rating of "5" out of "5". You will feel like a five-year-old with your hand in the cookie jar, as if you are doing something wrong, but the result feels fantastic. The standee starts in a neutral position and provides bonuses during the game, and cards allow you to take or give the standee to different players. As a game involving magicians throwing around spells to kill each other, Spell Wars is most reminiscent of Magic: The Gathering.

Everyone loved it, and you will too - just be sure to use your best wizard voices and put on some 80s hair-metal while you play! It came with the seriousness of deck-building but with the added fun of laughter, you normally get from any Epic Spell Wars game. At the end of each round you gain one blood if you have the standee, if you slay a foe with the standee you take it.

Each player chooses a Hero Card, which are used to keep track of life (HP) and blood (Special Resource). These glyphs can improve the performance of spells when they're the same (and can even help out if they're different for certain spells or with certain treasures; the bottom line is that if you pay attention to them, you can do interesting tactical things).You will unleash massive damage on the faces of your wizard rivals in a no-holds-barred, all-out burn-down to be the last Battle Wizard standing.

However, given the mechanics of the attacks, I think merging these all together will be a recipe for utter chaos! At the beginning of each round, all players secretly create a spell using up to three components from their hands. At the start of each round, players draw up to eight cards from the main deck (this happens each round, unused cards from previous round stay in your hand). Does the wording refer to the person drawing the card having a token or one being held by someone in the game? The game focuses primarily on creating three-part spell combos to blast your foes into the afterlife.

The object of Spell Wars is to be the Last Wizard Standing twice, which means killing all of your opponents during two different battles. Source cards give you dramatic origins of your spell, often another wizard's name - such as 'Bleemax Brainiac" - or an occult book or other bizarre source. You are a wizard trapped in a never-ending cycle of murder and rebirth, not much has changed since the Duel at mount Skullzfyre. I was very excited as I have previously played this game and it it brilliant, so wanted friends and family to enjoy it.

Slaughter your wizard opponents again and again and again to gain the Annihilageddon trophy while the game thrashes back with mayhem.It's super simple, and so easy to pick up I could explain it to a group of slightly-non-sober friends in minutes - and after one round they were all fully immersed and understood exactly how to play. The variety in the game comes from the individual card effects, and that's not something the rules cover directly, that's just a matter of reading your cards and putting together a clever combo to blast the living crap out of your friends. The action is even more intense, the carnage is more vicious, and the table-flipping anger is even more epic. There are also ways to put the tokens back to the pool and cards that give bonuses at the end of the game for having them!
