The NR1890DR 18V Cordless Plastic Strip Framing Nailer completely raises the bar for cordless framing nailers. As a second generation carpenter, William grew up around job sites and discovered his love of tools. As if this wasn't enough the Hitachi NR90GC2/J8 also has an easy access fuel cell chamber and is amazingly easy to clean, so you can spend less time looking after your gun and more time using it. While not a true replacement for pneumatic nailers, particularly on a production framing site, my crew and I found ourselves, more often than not, grabbing these nailers for many tasks. Once the tool is turned on, the brushless motor drives piston so that it compresses the air into the cylinder.

The on-tool control panel located at the base of the handle centralises the power button, battery charge indicator and selective actuation. In his spare time, he enjoys woodworking projects, fishing and spending time with his wife and three children. It weighs just over 4kg without a battery and is bigger than most pneumatic framing nailers but for me personally, I think that's a fair trade off for the convenience you get from using a battery operated nailer.Admittedly, the nailers seemed a bit heavier than their pneumatic cousins, but were very well balanced and the ergonomics felt great (After using the nailers, the weight was a non-issue for me). How have you got on in terms of reliability - read a comment online about someone having to send it away to have the "sealed for life" air recharged. which incidentally were as unreliable as anything, plus about 12 or so years experience of using battery nailers (initially 2nd fix, more recently 1st fix).

The box is decent too, with a fair bit of spare room and not a stupid blow moulded case like cheap tools/all older tools came with. The Hitachi Cordless Brad Nailer feels good in my hand and they clearly put some thought into the design and production of the tool.While a slightly heavier tool may pose issue to some, we're confident improved productivity and efficiency will more than make up for weight related concerns in the big scheme of things.

On 1st unboxing I thought it seemed quite heavy (more similar to an sds drill than a cordless tool) however it is very well balanced and comfortable to use in either hand all day long.Featuring tool free depth adjustment, dry firing lock out, tool free jam clearance and a handy belt hook the Hitachi NT65GB has all the features you would expect from a top end nail gun and then some!
