A very good buy ….. highly recommended for general viewing, or as an inexpensive way to get older children into wildlife and birdwatching without giving them complete junk that would put them off the hobby for good. Nikon in the quest to be environmentally friendly, designed these binoculars with environmentally friendly glass, totally free of lead and arsenic, which makes them quite attractive today. Colour correction was quite good, as was the colour rendition – it was easy to distinguish the orange of Herschel’s Garnet Star (Mu (μ) Cephei) from the brilliant white of Alderamin (Alpha (α) Cephei) and the yellow of Zeta (ζ) Cephei. Bresser expanded its activity especially in 1979 when Rolf Bresser, Josef’s son took leadership of the company and since then Bresser has become one of the established and leading manufacturers of high quality optics in the industry.

Cluster Collinder 70 overflowed the 4° field of view, but the chains of stars really came to the fore. The Nikon Aculon A211 10×50 is ideal for birdwatching, hunting and any outdoor activity that requires optics that help you not to miss any detail no matter how far away the lens is. Indeed, we mounted the Echelon 16x70s on a parallelogram mount under a good suburban sky and found it snapped to focus. My first impression was that they were well made. The hinge was firm, focus wheel had just the right resistance, the twist up eyecups stayed firmly in position, no loose trim, and they felt solid, though undoubtedly made of a heavy duty polymer/polycarbonate and rubber. The dioptre adjustment was fairly crudely finished (not rough, just not finished with smoothed edges as you would find on a more expensive model) the painted mark by which to set the dioptre was hastily applied. All good so far.Not only are they covered in a substantial rubber armour, but they come with a semi-rigid case that offers excellent protection against the rigours of regular, varied use.
