It's admittedly difficult to recommend the Vive Pro 2 as a commercial headset. The wired headset requires several cables for it to function properly, meaning managing it as part of your PC gaming setup can be stressful. Plus, all that power means it can start to run hot after just a short session, so we'd say it's best enjoyed in shorter bursts.

Identifying the best VR headsets takes a suite of things to consider, from the hardware itself to the software the headsets will work with. We're not going to sugarcoat things, however; VR is a relatively expensive hobby, and individual headsets can cost as much as, if not more than, the best gaming consoles and PCs. For those with powerful PCs and a dedicated virtual reality space, then headsets like the Valve Index, which we have not reviewed, are worth considering.You can also do PC passthrough with the Quest headsets, but they won't be as powerful gaming rigs as a high-end gaming PC combined with an Index headset. If you want to play VR games on a console then the PlayStation VR system is a decent option given its lower price point. As reviewer Sherri L. The headset is comfortable with just a relatively slim but sturdy cable that connects it to the PS5, the screen is excellent with impressive passthrough capabilities and 4K resolution. Plus, there's 3D audio support and easy buttons for adjustment.

Jurassic Virtual Reality (VR): That name surely gives it away, but if you like dinosaurs, then this will get you as close to the real thing as you’re ever likely to get. Get it from here. If you have a PS4 or PS4 Pro, then PlayStation VR is definitely one of the more affordable ways to play VR games with decent-quality graphics since you don’t need an expensive gaming PC. Plus, even with the less-than-stellar Move controllers and graphics that fall a bit short of high-end PC graphics, you still get a relatively high-end VR experience. It’s never been easier or more comfortable to enjoy a personal cinema and gaming experience in one device! And the big difference with the Vizor VR Glasses is the ability to play augmented games, simply by removing the front panel of your headset, transforming your reality into an interactive gaming experience within the real world surroundings. The Meta Quest Pro is effectively the grown-up version of the Quest 2. Though the Quest Pro can play games, it’s aimed at designers, engineers, scientists and creatives who frequently collaborate online. This is another step toward Meta’s goal of making the metaverse a reality and, questions about the metaverse’s viability aside, the Quest Pro is itself an impressive piece of tech.That should be plenty to keep the budding virtual reality enthusiast going for a while; we can’t wait to see what these apps will be like in a year from now. The possibilities are almost endless. The Valve Index certainly looks the part of a high-end headset, but that means it also requires a complex setup (and a powerful PC) to match. In fact, our least favorite thing about Valve's headset is the setup process, which requires several wires and a dual camera setup to work properly. Make sure you have enough desk and room space (not to mention a few free power outlets) to ensure a seamless experience. The process is worth it, however, as you'll be treated to impressive wide field-of-view and full Steam integration, making browsing your existing library in VR a cakewalk. VR headsets are essentially like strapping TVs up close to your face, so extended periods of time can cause a little discomfort.
