An extremely good (near-perfect, in all honesty) model kit rightly recognized as a masterpiece by the Gunpla community. A must-have for anyone who wants to accelerate human evolution through space migration by dropping your evil ex-girlfriend's old asteroid base onto Earth and subsequently causing a nuclear winter ? To put that in more concrete terms, the Sazabi at 1/144 absolutely towers over almost all other suits in the same scale. It’s nearly the same size as an average 1/100. I don’t have one handy to compare, but the MG Sazabi Ver.Ka is almost as big as a smaller 1/60 PG. Apparently, some builders have encountered issues during the assembly of the chest and shoulder connection. The three segments of this joint are each directional, so pay close attention to the instructions when building this segment. Additionally, when inserting the joint into the chest, it needs to be pushed all the way down into the peg. In a partially assembled state this area is a bit fragile; use common sense and be gentle!

Later reissues of the Gunpla from September 2018 onwards will feature a blue-colored Bandai Spirits logo. Later reprints from mid-2022 will also feature a Bandai Namco logo. Interior / joint parts (light gray): (Base: Suff) Star Bright Iron 30% + Neutral Gray IV 40% + Flat White 15% + German Gray 15% (all Gaia colors) The inside of the funnel container is color-coded by iron color. There is a part that pulls out at the tip, but since the left and right molds also had parting lines, we remodeled it with a plastic plate. Unfortunately, the water transfer decal for RG Sazabi was not released during production, so I used third part decals. I know I keep yammering about how heavy these metal parts are, but now that it’s 95% assembled, I really can’t stress enough what a dense piece this is.Unfortunately some of the color-accuracy is lost in the translation to clear parts – there should be a couple of shades of red here, and with the clear plastic there still is, but it’s impossible to see the different shades with the naked eye. Styling is reminiscent of the Ver.Ka design, but different in spots. A few of the flourishes and opening panels made it, but not all of them. It’s a nice design, and still similar enough that often the only way to tell the difference between the MG and the RG in photographs is what gun it’s holding: if you see the rifle, that’s the MG, but if you see the shotgun and have nothing else to provide a sense of scale, it could go either way. A twin pipe is embedded in the muzzle, and the sensor on it is laminated with two hologram finish sheets painted in clear green. To date, this Gunpla has yet to be redecoed into the "GPB Color" version of the unit from Gunpla Builders Beginning G. One of the least-grounded technologies in Gundam, the psychoframe is a kind of psychically-reactive metal. It’s never explained how any of this works, but the upshot is that if you think hard enough about murder while sitting inside a Faraday cage, you become a wizard. Neo-Zeon developed it for the Sazabi exclusively, but here Char’s evil masterminding runs directly aground on his self-defeating dipshit tendencies. Classic. What happens is that after thrashing Amuro in an early battle, he decides that it would be cool to have a “fair fight”, and just gives him the plans for the psychoframe. This has two major consequences, one that anyone could have seen coming, and another less predictable.

The product in the image is a prototype still in its developmental stage. The product is also painted. The actual product may appear differently from the image. There isn’t anything bad to say here. The RG Sazabi looks great, poses better, comes with good accessories, and is big as hell. It’s an amazing piece of GunPla, managing to be an easy (if somewhat lengthy) build, despite the sheer volume of parts. It’s just a great kit, and was probably the best Real Grade until the Nu Gundam came out and immediately overthrew it. Some things never change. After finishing the build the fun doesn't end there. Out of all the different grades of Unicorn that Bandai has released throughout the years, this is still the one with the most accurate transformation based on the show from Unicorn mode to Destroy mode and you'll see just how awesome this kit is. Although I don’t paint, I may well end up figuring out a matte clear coat for the plastic to really make those metal joints shine through.Another three hours of decal application and, two more ripped decals, I’ve only managed to apply about 30 or so decals. A variety of hand parts and weapons that symbolize Sazabi are included, and the various hand parts and high range of motion allow you to recreate the poses in the play, such as the two-handed pose! Topcoat (Mr. Hobby recommended) can be used to protect applied decals. (Water-based topcoat is recommended due to the kit having PP parts)
