During the interval, I passed a young girl doing some traditional dance for her mother. Her delight and skill underlined what this show is all about. At the first half finale, the whole team, with brilliant front man James Keegan tapping his heart out, made the audience go wild. After all, he exploded onto the Eurovision dance floor in Dublin in 1996 with his version of traditional dancing that blew everyone away.

There are lyrical dances with horses and a unicorn beamed onto the screen - well, Theresa May was in town. Michael Flatley found his first fame starring in Riverdance, but he left the show in late 1995 due to conflicts over creative control. He dreamed of, and put into action, a plan of putting together a dance show capable of playing in arenas and stadiums instead of traditional theatres. [1] [ full citation needed] Later on, Flatley soon began thinking of rhythm patterns and steps for an a cappella number. This number would later become "Planet Ireland", the show's finale. The show took six months to bring from conception to stage. Auditions were held in the SFX City Theatre in Dublin. With new music by composer Gerard Fahy, this ‘extraordinary and supremely stirring show’ (Daily Telegraph) combines the best of tradition with all the excitement of new music and dance.You can expect spellbinding stuff as the dancers weave a fascinating good versus evil tale inspired by traditional Irish folklore. The show is due to open on Saturday 10 October 2015 and is scheduled to run through to 3 January at the Playhouse Theatre in London’s West End. Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games is directed by legendary Irish dancer Michael Flatley and tells the mythical story of a Lord who must fight dark forces threatening a futuristic world. The production contains dance, live music composed by Gerard Fahy, singing, acrobatics and even holographs. Flatley said, “I’m delighted that London has once again welcomed us so warmly, and to be able to extend the show’s run by moving to the very beautiful Playhouse Theatre makes me feel immensely proud of what we’ve achieved. I am delighted for my dancers that they can continue to perform in this great city.” Dangerous Games runs until September 2015, a performance that's rich in the great man's distinctive brand of contemporary and traditional Irish dance. It's due to be his final West End appearance and the young lords of the dance he has chosen to play the part in his place are super-seriously talented, not to be missed.

They've invented a big good versus evil narrative, over-dressed the baddie (excellent Tom Cunningham, fighting the Dark Lord's Darth Vader costume) and thrown in some risque routines. Irish dance champions Fergal Keaney and Cathal Keaney will be joined by Morgan Corner and James Keegan (also world Irish dancing medal holders) in the role of the Lord of the Dance. The show did not use the original stage set design but upgraded it to a modern design consisting of seven erect rectangular screens with a set of stairs also acting as screens. New lighting was introduced and aircraft landing lights were used as stage lights to add to the effect. The show also featured updated and redesigned costumes from the original show.

Partly for the sheer sexiness of all that leg action, partly because of the music and the fact it still referenced the dances that many of us learnt at a tender age. Flatley's return to performance in Feet of Flames Taipei in 2009 marked the first step to his return in the show.

Other than that… Being on stage at the Palladium, when the lights go down, when I come on, it is going to be all about that moment. It used to be my dream was to dance in Madison Square Garden in New York, a football stadium, Wembley Arena, and I am delighted I managed to do most of them.
