I loved his character so much and how he is caring and helpful to Ti and Max 🥺💘 he is one of the best character in this and Carissa you better not do anything to him or I'll bring chaos 🥰

I also really enjoyed the plot!! 🥰 The story told so many twists and turns and the balance between the character development, romance and action was *chef's kiss*. I couldn't stop reading this, i was so immersed in it!! 🤩🤩 Ngl there were a few slow points when Tisaanah was doing her training and stuff (which is the main reason it's a 4.5 not a 5), but otherwise it was amazing 💗💗Tisaanah, Max, Sammerin, and Nura attend the party. But after the initial toasts, Tisaanah reveals her old dancing costume and makes a spectacle for Ahzeen. Meanwhile, during this distraction, the Syrizen – whose unique magical properties allow them to move past the wards – are taking slaves from the estate one by one. What is it? A presence, a monter or something else? We got no answers but I have a feeling it is going to create much bigger problems in the future especially for Max considering its creepy obsession with him.

As a friend, as a kindred soul, as a fierce teammate. As skin and lips and teeth. As a hitched breathless moan in the darkness or a lazy embrace in the sunrise. I wanted that. I wanted it all. Like I said, Tisaanah escapes captivity, bearing marks of what she went through, and this aftermath of the premise is where Broadbent’s skills truly shine. Tisaanah now must learn to use her magic and she throws herself at it with all the stubbornness (determination?) that allowed her to survive the “Look at me” chapter. And truly, the magic in this world is gorgeous. Fascinating and engrossing and at times terrifying. She’s being taught by her reluctant teacher Maxantarius (I love me a grumpy reluctant/positive sunshine dynamic) who is bitingly hilarious. Most of the passages I highlighted were because I laughed literally out loud at Max’s dialogue, or Tisaanah’s impression of him. For example:At first they both disliked each other so much but the more they spent time together, the more they tried to know each other and they tried to understand their choices and their behaviour. I loved how their friendship developed from a trainer-trainee relationship to friends and then to lovers. They both always helped each other no matter what situation is and Max gave Ti a home. A home she never knew she needed. Everything about them is comfort ❤️‍🩹 Ahzeen takes Tisaanah to his office to whip her. Tisaanah knows that Resahye draws from very deep magic, perhaps deep enough that it can circumvent the effects of the Chryxalis. She calls upon Resahye and turns herself over to it completely, killing Ahzeen and once again losing control. First impressions of Daughter of No Worlds were very good. The prose is strong and beautiful, the premise that Broadbent sets up is familiar (I mean this in the best way—stories that are most memorable to me blend the familiar and the new, and this is something that Broadbent accomplishes fabulously, but I digress.) That familiar concept: Tisaanah is sold into slavery after conflict tears apart everything she knows. She is beautiful and unique. When we see her in the first chapters, the slave trade has landed her in a brothel/bawdy house/performance house setup, where she is on the verge of buying her freedom. Things go wrong (as they do) and Tisaanah survives in an incredibly moving scene where she— is it a spoiler if it happens in the first chapters? I don’t know, I’m new at reviewing! Suffice it to say “Look at me” gave me goddamn SHIVERS and I knew I was going to fall in love with Tisaanah in a hurry. I was a bit hesitant to start this book, but I must say it was a positive surprise. Though the book cover might hint to YA, I can assure you the content is not. Ready to jump into Mother of Death and Dawn but feeling like you need a refresher on what’s happened so far in the story? No worries! I, too, have the memory of a goldish.
