The pace, in the middle part, got slow. It helped for character development and getting to know the characters but it got slow. I will considered this a slow burn but not your typical one. If you read it, you’ll know what i’m talking about. Two people really grappling with a lot of pain and residual trauma from their lives find each other and through their relationship are forced to deal with and come to terms with their choices. Going through those periods with them was gutting bc I hated what happened but the grovelling?? these characters were unapologetically themselves, flawed + so real. the story explored their struggles within themselves + their families, some of the best character development from the main characters but also some of the side characters.
