JB: ‘Shorthand’?! Guy knows not the meaning of the word. His scripts are rich and full, and as interesting and enjoyable to read as the comic itself. In fact, they are often bloody hilarious, one day I dream of a mega, ‘absolute’ style edition of the collected Hope that includes Guy’s scripts, it’s criminal that so few folks get to see them. Although Sheridan stopped by often-not often enough for her mother-April and Lucy had been to the new place infrequently, and separately, depending on their schedules. This wasn't really their home-it was the place where their parents now lived.

I am a democrat and support the BLM movement and will clearly say, I'm not offended by anything that is said in this book. Anyone who is offended by anything in this book should not be 22 books into this series. Reel one of this latest Hope had Mallory investigating a haunted/cursed film set, very much in the sort of ballpark of previous Hope storylines. But here in the second Reel, it’s gone a hell of a lot more expansive, a lot more worldly, and is busy switching between Mallory and his no longer missing wife Alice. GA: As wonderful as Chandler and Hammett are they’re predominantly novelists so, yeah… Not part of the mix at all. This is about cinema. There were also many political references in Nate's storyline that I felt were unnecessary. I found myself skimming, which I have never done with any of the other books in the series. I liked about 75% of the story but cringed at the unneeded political messages (Trump conspiracies, BLM, Antifa, etc.). If I wanted to read a book about politics, I would do so on my own terms. The two different plots didn't blend well together. It felt like I was reading separate novellas. The only connection between the stories was Joe coming in at the last minute to save the day.

I liked both storylines for Nate and Joe, but some details surprised me - and not in a good way. I was hoping for exciting changes because of the conclusion of the last book. At least, this time, Joe can't be held responsible for bringing trouble home......that was an interesting twist. GA: It better had be visually led, it’s a comic! Both Jimmy and I have dropped the ball if it isn’t. I realize this may sound like a sarcastic reply but it really isn’t. I’m constantly baffled by work that forgets what medium it belongs to…If carp or specimen fishing is your chosen discipline, look for a reel that can hold plenty of line, this will aid you when casting longer distances and give you the reserve line when big fish go on powerful runs. A baitrunner is always helpful when fishing for larger fish, it prevents the rod being dragged in when you get a take, something no angler wants to happen. Glossary A tasty, if not always tasteful, tale of supernatural mayhem that fans of King and Crichton alike will enjoy. JB: That is definitely the plan, we want it to feel authentic, it’s essential really, if you want the readers to join you on the ride, you have to draw them in and convince them the journey is worth taking.
