While he is very much the outsider that is affected by the dank and claustrophobic weather and treated with disdain, he gets on with his job. They end up off the usual trail and soon they are fighting for their lives while being hunted by an unseen force in the raging blizzard.While there's nothing fresh about the plot, the increasingly gloomy setting—a reflection of the tragic losses nearly all the characters, including Ari, have experienced—provides its own distinctive edge.

However, the storm and the broken leg are the least of their troubles, when something far, far worse lurks out there in the dark. The ending was torture you’ve gotta feel for the guy, survives a harrowing near death experience and …… Read it, you’ll steer clear of the Rockies for sure. Showboat Medical Examiner Margot Heavner makes it clear that, breaking with her department’s earlier practice ( The Bone Collection, 2016, etc.The storm was alive with something dangerous and evil and anyone who dared walk into it never survived. Rather than walk up to someone obviously headed for trouble - where they might flash a badge and say, 'Get smart, kid, it's not going to work' - they will, as a matter of policy, allow him to risk his life with the local heavies, get a few snorts of pure, and walk into jail at the airport back home.

I do know that if it snows here this year I will probably stay in bed and cover my head with the covers.
