The provided video instructional works to give you an idea of how to install the dash camera. However, I found in my 2022 Polestar 2 a slightly more simplified way to go about installation. In the video, it shows to remove part A(see picture below) first. I found that simply removing part B was sufficient enough to expose the required plug. For an electric car, though, there are some areas where the Polestar 2 doesn’t make the most of its underpinnings. For a start, there’s a huge, raised console, making for a closed-in, driver-focused space compared to the flat floor and open space of many of its rivals. This leads us nicely into practicality. The Polestar 2 isn’t bad here, but considering it’s an EV, it could definitely do better. I don't want to take the risk to drain the 12V battery to 11.5V unnecessarily, the electronics of the P2 might not like that too much. Negatives? There aren’t many, but then again, I’d like to drive that base car without the magic dampers.

Looked at directly front-on, the Polestar 2 has a tough stance, with wide, flared wheelarches, while from the rear it looks again to Volvo’s past with squared-off light fittings. Ring also markets this cabin camera to be used as a traffic stop camera. Capitalizing on a lot of the fear generated in recent times over traffic stops, simply saying “Alexa, record” will trigger the Ring Car Cam to record inside the cabin for up to 20 minutes that will then save the highlight onto the cloud. I personally don’t plan on using this feature much, but it doesn’t hurt to have something like this. This runs into the doors and seats, and our test car had the odd ‘WeaveTech’ vegan upholstery made of recycled materials. Not leather, not cloth, but something else entirely. It feels more like swimsuit material. I like it. We had a great reaction to the specially modified Polestar 2 we showed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2021 and the response made it clear – we should create a version like that for production,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.

The new Polestar app and Polestar Digital Key begin rolling out to all Polestar 2 owners OTA from mid-April 2021. Build quality is higher with better panel gaps and good standards of overall fit and finish. This puts the Polestar very much on even terms with the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Kia EV6. It’s also capable of over-the-air updates, but unlike the Model 3, the Polestar has a real 12.3-inch digital dash suite, in what I would consider a significant win for driver usability.Using the command ‘hey Google!’, you can control and adjust various things like the air-con, heated seats and demisters. You can also use the usual spread of apps via the infotainment, including Apple CarPlay. Both devices have worked fine for the last 3-4 years in the Volt, so I can't imagine why they won't work in the PS2, barring any weirdness with PS2 radar emitters... Proportionally it’s a bit odd, but I like it. It’s new, and fresh without being outlandish or weird, and wears enough detailing to make it entirely different from the simplicity of design offered by Tesla. An interesting point of difference, but the similarity of this approach to the way cabins are naturally compromised in combustion vehicles might turn off some buyers keen to show off the spacious benefits of the EV life. Going from 0-80% at a fast charger takes a little more than 30 minutes, while an overnight eight-hour charge from a domestic wallbox will fully charge the battery and give you about 270 real-world miles.
